Jan: As Joe stated in his post, we're currently aiming at the end of the summer. At this stage, I'm afraid we can't be more specific.

Rich: Sorry that you were missed there. We're planning on shipping an improved way of managing your mobile content within the next 8 weeks.

TechDave: We do tend to run a short beta program before major releases such as this, so it's fairly likely. I'd suggest keeping an eye on our Facebook page, as this is where we usually recruit.

Todd: It will always depend on the browser, but pure HTML of any version is usually a bit faster to load than the equivalent in Flash.

Taren: As above, we're currently aiming at Q3 this year. When it happens, existing sites will be able to opt in without the need to rebuild.

I built my website with wix.com and have began shopping for a new company to build with because their Flash. I like your templates and layouts, would love to sign up with yal'. when are you rolling out html5? should i begin building now? or should i wait? if i build now will i have to start all over again???

Hey Guys and Gals at MF. Will there be a Beta Opt-in for sites to be tested using HTML5 if so I would like to volunteer my website to be a Beta Tester. The sooner I get my site to work on iPhone’s and iPad’s the better for me and if it means being a Gineapig for HTML5 then I am more than willing to Test my site.

Thanks Walt for addressing all the questions apart from mine, mobile site optimisation mentioned in one of joes blogs for this month? Can we all please get an update, we can't all wait till october for something to change on the mobile front, as others have said, we are losing business from this, mobile sites are of the utmost importance at the moment in the current day and age.

Can we please get and official response to this.

Unfortunately it's read-only, but should be viewable on any device.

Hi guys,

I'd like to address some of the concerns raised above. Come Q3 we will be providing an option to publish your site in HTML5. The editing environment will remain the same and customers will continue to edit in the Flash for the foreseeable future, we will simply offer an option to publish in Flash or HTML5.

To create the HTML5 version we have to make sure that any object we have in Flash has an equivalent in HTML5 which looks the same. For your own uploaded SWF files, we won't be able to create HTML equivalents as we didn't create the SWF ourselves so can't control how its built. We will investigate the option of allowing SWFs to be embedded in the HTML5 version (a reverse of how the HTML widgets currently work), but these will still not display on tablets as they don't support Flash. If you do rely heavily on SWF files in your site, you can still use the Flash version of your site with us and you'll be unaffected by the changes.

We will of course update customers along the way with our progress, especially if we have an example or demo to share - but that's a way off yet.

I've got some idea now. I will be creating a few blank flash websites before the cut off point and hope I can still upload swf files and modify and display in flash as an option, while figuring out what I can achieve in html5.

I don't need my sites to run on tablets and mobiles.

Why isn't anyone responding to concerns?
Do you expect everyone to know the difference between html5 and flash and what this actually means from a moonfruit user point of view?
Does this change what files you can upload and display for example? What will be the differences, if any, from a customer point of view when building a website from within your software?

If you remain silent, it looks fishy.

Yeah just to add to what other people have been saying, this is great news and it's certainly made my day to read this is going to happen. I think it will for sure be the way to go with tablets and mobiles only going to take over more and more. I will miss flash but understand that html5 is the future and things have to change.

Amazing work guys but we need this asap, whats the latest on the mobile site optimization that is supposed to be coming this coming month.

At the moment, the sites are rendering badly on iphone and other idevices.

This is soooo frustrating! I need my website to viewed by NHS personnel here in Aberedeen and the NHS IT system doesnt allow flash download.

The mobile version actually looks quite cool.

Is it possible to view the mobile version on the desktop as the "text only" version is a complete mess and hides the "contact" form

I'm gutted as I've spent a decent amount of cash for a site that doesn't do what I want.
