Good point web design,

And also worth mentioning the old adage, that content is king. Too many users worry excessively about about SEO, links and meta data and getting folk to their site at the expense of what they are actually saying. Many forget the main reason for people to visit is to stay and take action - to read, to interact, to buy. They forget that providing informative, interesting and captivating content is just as important to ensure that visitors don't leave the site soon after they arrive due to a poorly designed site or limited content.

So, do worry about page ranking in the search engine but be more concerned with how 'sticky' your site is. As the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Give your your visitors or customers something to engage with once they have found your site and that's half the battle.

Dont forget about off site SEO, its not just content & meta tags that give good rankings in google, it has a lot to do with linking text to your site and the site that is linking to you, also good internal text links will help, some SEO's dont even believe that meta tags and keyword density even make a difference some top ranking sites dont even have their key word/phrase "on page".
If you can get good linking text from a site with PR5 or 6 say linking to your site with keywords it would be of great benefit and far more important than on site content especially if your website is young say less than 12 months old. Dont worry to much about getting thousands of PR0 linking to you as its not likely to be of great benefit for the time you put into getting those links.

think quality rather than quantity!

Also one way links to you have a bigger impact again.

I was finally able to get Juffs Roofing popping up on Google with some page 1 ...page 2's and a few a bit deeper. I am confident over time that this will get better....and I just checked MSN and they are 1st page now for many of the terms above. As for my other client 25 Hour Printing Service ... well it's going to take a little longer ..with the new domain and possible sandbox time... Links will be what wins the battle on that one. tough Industry.

So after looking up more terms on Yahoo - here is the final results. Even better
Remember if you check this on Yahoo and live in Europe or the US... the results
will vary since the Search Engines can tell via IP Adress etc.. where you are and
serve you results based on Geography.

But here locally...which is all my client cares about..

YAHOO Search Engine Results

KEYWORD RANKING

So I just finished building a site for a Roofing company here in Toronto. After only 2 weeks I have been able to achieve some great results Yahoo.com for the keywords

Toronto Roofing - #1 on page one
Roof Repair Toronto - #1 on page one
Toronto Roof Repair - #1 on page one
Thornhill Roofing - #2 on Page one
Toronto Roofing Comapny #5 on page one
Juffs Roofing #1 on page one

If you look at my Title tags, I have structured my keywords in there with a space and a | line | then key phrase | keyword | company name |

Toronto Roofing | Juffs Roofing | Roof Repair

Try this format, also use keywords in your first 2 sentences on the site as well as your site and page descriptions. Go download "a free tool called "Good Keywords" and research your market or what you think are your keywords... you may be surprised.

Google will take me a bit longer but I will get my client on page 1.

Question for Moonfruit ? I notice the character length on the Site info for title tag seems a little short... I would love to get another 2-3 words in? Can you adjust this?
