I put in a query via your help desk asking about sitemaps but am still not clear on why we can't have them, and what the difference is between the Google and Yahoo specific sitemaps (that a SEO company has told us we should have) and one that is part of the site itself.

Because I don't understand this, I also am unclear as to how much of a disadvantage it is not to be able use sitemaps in terms of optimising the website.

Can you help me please?

Hi Andrew, it's on our roadmap to implement sitemaps and google webmaster tools, but not yet scheduled. I'll be sure to let you know when we have a date for this. Thanks,

I too think a sitemap implemented as sitemap.xml off the root of the website would be fantastic but also the ability to implement a special ownership meta tag as required by google's webmaster tools to prove ownership of the domain

Eg: <meta name="verify-v1" content="encrypted key from google" />

The main google webmaster tools are here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/ and in order to get details statistics for your website it must be verified.

Can you tell if and when we could look at having a SITEMAP implemented ? It've very apparent that for SEO/SEM that this would be an important feature for us. Look forward to your answer.

HQ, google doesn't treat specially any search, that's the core of their business they can't afford to damage it.

There is nothing moonfruit nor anyone can do to tell google what to do with their search results.

Well my site was on google for a while, then it got taken off, then it was back again, and now it is off again on Google. I am starting to suspect either that because my site is for a hostel, Google takes it away purposefully because basically the only sites can be seen, are the huge hostel booker sites who take a percentage so it is not in their interest for anyone to see my site and as such contact me directly. Or it may be coming under the Google censorship in China.
Either way I am not happy, and need to find other ways to get it seen.
You guys have a partnership with google, isnt there any way you get your customers preferential treatment?
Regards

Hello
Thank you for your info, it has been mosthelpful tomy new site- I just wish that I had read it a bit sooner! When I started my site a few months ago it came up fairly quickly and quite well ranked on google. I then thought I would get clever however and put links on every travel forum I could find. In addition I also had the same100 keywords for each page, which I have now changed and targeted.
I fear I may have been blacklisted as a spammer! Well I have learnt my lesson, but will this effect my site ranking forever?
Thank you
Hq
