Hi Joe,
Many thanks for your optimize info. Its such a mind field but you have explained it well and been far more helpful than my hosting management who I have paid a lot of money to. I still can't quite understand why my site is ranked in msn and the keywords are working but Google and Yahoo I'm not ranked at all.

I'll will still battle on and see If I can be listed. The Moonfruit software package and all about moonfruit i find great and so helpful. I would just like to see my site to be listed - featured so that other people can see how good a Moonfruit website is.

Im a bit clueless with my web, really, I am trying to get ont erh left hand side, and google sent me a email, first I have to verify the site, with a html tag or meta tag, so does anyone know how to do this,

Hi Jeff

You are overlapping into the realms of effective html design with H1 etc. I am a little rusty with the most uptodate features of moonfruit, but I am sure we do not have access to their html. Like yourself I am keen to push the boundries of SEO - Moonfruit.

Joe - Congratulations on a very well written SEO series that I am sure will de-mystify this complex subject for a huge number of Sitemaker users.

I have a question relating to Point 7 & Alt Tags. I use a lot of imported files and graphics in my designs. This may be within the Page Master of a site and on individual pages.

EG. On the page master of my own business site http://www.qimarketing.com I have set up an Alt Tag on the Newsletter graphic of “QiMarketing Newsletter with free marketing advice and free marketing tips”.
EG. On my home page http://www.qimarketing.com/home I have set an Alt Tag on the main graphic (of the sheep etc) of “Stand Out, Be In Front. Improved Corporate Image”

I have not seen these Alt Tags displayed yet by:
- Asking for the HTML in Sitemaker (under Page Settings, Generate HTML)
- Right clicking to View Source
- Using Spider Simulators eg. http://www.webconfs.com/search-engi...

Do the search engines actually see the Alt Tags? It looks to me like they do not. I would appreciate an answer as I do not want to waste time putting in more Alt Tags if they do not work.

Joe, just wondering although my SEO | SEM knowledge is fairly good I do not come from a design background. So silly question... where or what would be H1 H2 H3 H4 Headers within this site listed here for 25 Hour Printing Service ? or within the "sitebuilder" design? i want to be sure to use/structure these properly?

Hi Jeff, great contribution. We'd like to see more of that kind of thing too. We'll be rebuilding the message board feature over the next couple of months, which will allow better management and archiving of topic contents, so once that's done we'll certainly add it to the new message board. The search engines can tell that my hosting is in U.K. For me that doesn't help. Is there a way around it? I doubt it but i had to ask. good post Joe.

To add to some of your pointers. I have used the alt-text and keyword density checker along with "bolding" some of the keywords used on various pages. Don't over do it ...but have read this can help also.

The Anchor-Text for internal linking is a tricky one many forget. So many of us put "click here" and recently I went back and changed my "go here for pricing" to "Business Card Pricing" on my home page. It is underlined so most will see that it is a link. to be safe I linked the images beside also.

Also here in Canada google has hooked up with our Yellow Page company for business listings and draws from their data base. ..so having your address at the bottom of each page including a postal code etc.. will allow for the engines to serve your site up if it matches up with a searchers IP location... if you follow me.

This is a great series Joe and I would love to see a Category dedicated to it in the Forum. SEO/SEM sharing how to maximize moonfruit for search strategies and marketing with what we have. It allows the community to learn and moonfruit to get solid feedback in one spot for those of us who are testing...... because I am.

I would be willing to share lots. Here is a couple to start.
Keyword Density - should be in the 3%-7% range
