My second major site with Moonfruit and just integrated the beta blog and works great!

Working with twitter and facebook growing at over 2000 fans a month I find my mind working 24/7 how to take advantage of all moonfruit offers.

I look forward to enhancements within the blog feature!

For those that 'trash talk' a flash based website I have my .02 worth to add. It's all about content and do you actually have anything to offer your audience? How a website is built is important I am not denying the importance of seo etc BUT first and foremost what is the blind experience of a fresh viewer? I think Moonfruit has done an admirable job across the board and amongst my peers some of whom are html5 dreamweaver purists have had to acknowledge what Moonfruit delivers as a vehicle to create an online presence.

I'm no expert an dnot trying to preach but I came from a very difficult position of not being able to get my websites online until I tried Moonfruit. Results for two companies I have done sites for are outstanding. Feedback is positive and indeed their conventional print media is down but revenue is up enabling them to explore other marketing opportunities such as trade events etc.

Off my soapbox now.

I agree with Daz, there are a lot of beginners to website building and MF provide a very easy way to get a professional looking website. If you want something more advanced or to view on mobile media, then find the provider that suits your needs and stop criticising MF for providing what the majority of it's customers want. I thought it was interesting that the latest blackberry has flash so it's not extinct for mobile comms devices.

If you're not happy with what MF provide go elsewhere, that's what I did with one on my sites but I still continue to use MF for another which does me fine at the moment. Granted that we all wish things could be more in our line with our individual requirements but like I said use MF for what is available as features only, if not, move on. That's the solution to your problem really. You have a choice!

Bon and Nad,

The updates above are templates. We are producing more templates on a regular basis, which is what our customers have asked for. And judging by the stats on their usage they are proving very popular.

The new Blog (currently in Beta) is also proving very popular judging by the numbers of Beta Testers who signed up and have been using it and giving us constructive feedback. And with a fix for the final issue (of blog page performance) in the last stages of testing we are hoping to get the new blog out for general release within a few weeks. Then we start in earnest on the shop

With regards features you want, Bon, what is it you want, specifically? Nad, more image tools are coming later in the year, once the first iteration of the shop gets published in a few months.

As for the plans being so expensive? Well those customers who continued to use their software were quite happy staying on their current packages. As for the new prices, well yes they've gone up for the first time in well over over 7 years at the same price. So putting them up became a necessity for us. That said we still think our prices are reasonably competitive and considering how much everything else has gone up over the last 7 years, we think the increases were minimal.

And Bon, I'm sorry you would prefer us not to be so social, but that's part of who we are. Granted we stalled a bit last year with widget production but between Joe and I, we've waxed lyrical about the reasons for this in many other posts, on the forum and in Facebook. This year, as promised, we have started the move towards producing more widgets and features.

Anthony, no work arounds. The Video and audio will come later. We wanted to get the basic blog tool out to serve the majority of customers who were keen to us it. Then we would let it bed in before returning to add more features later this year. They will come but we'd rather get what features we have out first rather than delay the release to add more functionality. Hang in there it's coming.

But thanks for the feedback.

Pathetic ... What type of updates are these ...

I am over mf now. It's lost it's old "fruitieness". The features we want are never going to come. We want powerful widgets. We want new widgets.

The new plans are crazy as well. So expensive.

And in our day and age with flash disappearing we still
Don't have a decent website that can load up on our devices.

Open your eyes MF ... Stop being so social

It is great one guys. I know your are working hard to release blog release than the e commerce before you go there can you look in to paypal currencies that your system support during support. For example We are using turkish Lİra and paypal support it but I could not set it up in your paypal set up tool. I need to go paypal and generate html code for each product which is very time consuming. Is there any way that you can include turkish lira in to your pay pal currency please

Hi Darren, it's on the list though we've given our template designers free licence to come up with a range of templates based on what they feel would make a good contribution to the mix. We are currently producing or adding about 10 new ones a month though versions for the new blog feature and forthcoming shop will get some priority.

But I've mentioned this to our designer who co-ordinates our suppliers, so you may see some down the line.

Hi, i congratulations on a wonderful effort! I believe you did a great hob and it's a step in the right direction. I love the new templates, but i just wanted to ask if it was possible if you could also us to allow edit in html so we can add our own stuff with some html. Because i have a program caled Flash Menu Factory which i can create my own menus but i use html to add them to websites, but i don't know how to add it into your website. So it would be greatly appreciated if you could make it possible to edit in html! I MEAN GREATLY appreciate XD! I use this websites for a lot of my presentations at school and the teachers are always stunned by the amazing layouts...so thank you! But could you please try and make it available to edit in html...plz...plz..PLZ!

Hi David, you can't add code, HTML or otherwise to text boxes but this shouldn't stop you linking to another site. The text you can simply add to a text box on a page. The link e.g. a web site address, would need to be copied from the supplied text/code i.e. just the www.sitename.com and added using the link option in the Editor.

In other words, add the text to the text box, highlight a section of text that will be linked to the external website, click on the Link tab in the Editor, select the URL (web address) icon and then paste in the web address you have been supplied with.

Details on this can be found in our FAQ. Happy linking!

Hi David, can you shed some light on your comment, as we don't quite understand your question with regards to links. Thanks.

Andy, thanks for the comments. As for your wishing for an 'global' File Manager, sadly that won't make headlines next release. As each website has its own little slice of the database getting the File Manager to upload to multiple sites within an account would be a very big job.

And as for using plain English, we use terms well used in the web industry and, for our own benefit (so WE know what we're talking about), we make do make some names up. After all, you can't have software development and not have the odd bit of jargon! But while you may find we give a feature or widget an 'odd' name we will do our best in putting more time into describing what it does and how you can benefit from it. But point taken. And thanks again.

FANTASTIC yes I am shouting it out well done Moonfruit it all just gets better and better but I am glad the price does not go up and up with all the improvments and what is this

File Manager changes ?? coming soon mmm could it be 1 file manager to use on all of your websites ? would be wicked if it was !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just 1 little snag please use plain English when describing some products these codes and short names you use can be a bit hard to understand what they mean

however

WELL DONE a paying member of 5 years and counting Andy

Hi Jeff,

If your Subjects are set to "Guests can View", then the subject title and description (or notes) will display if you publish that page for viewing in HTML (Log in > Edit > Page Settings > View HTML version). This is what the search engines will read.

That page will also offer links (to all viewable posts for each subject) using RSS feeds where the posts can be read by clicking the links on that page. The search engines should follow the links and spider the content on those posts, if they are marked public ( i.e. guests are allowed to view the posts and not just members.)

As to how deep search engines will go to read content, they are restricted to RSS providing a limit of 50 feeds which generally show the most recent feeds.

Another thing to note is that this only applies to the new (themable) forum. It doesn't apply if you have an old forum on your site.

This is alot of work you've done this round. excellent !!
The Header Tag situation is yet another seo-benefit many aren't aware of but having control over these areas is just really really good.

The helper showhome pages can even be used to show clients things that can be done.

Question?

Does all of the text inside the FORUM show in HTML. Can the search engines see all the content in the posts... no matter how deep it gets?

Thanks to Joe and rest of team.
