Hi Erin,

Unfortunately, ISPs are prone to changing things with little or no notice, but recipients won't see any different if you send through AT&T's server instead.

Michelle: The fields will be marked as 'Optional' because not all servers require a username and password. We, however, do.

Hi Erin,

Thanks for confirming. As far as we know, AT&T don't allow customers to use any SMTP server other than their own - this is quite a common spam-reduction tactic.

If you edit the account to use their outgoing server settings, you should be able to send your mail.

HTH,

Hi Ella,

I can see in your ergascoigne account you have set up a domain name - thebookpublicist.co.uk - and set up some Aliases. You haven't actually set up a Mailbox. You have three Forwards all directing mail to your startuppr.co.uk address.

Only when you set up a Mailbox can you login to access anything. So, log back in and simply set up a Mailbox and you'll be on your way.

Hi RW,

Can you confirm that you have used the Authenticate Outgoing server option?

And you can confirm who your ISP is. We've had a lot of issues with some ISPs blocking the outgoing port, Orange, Virgin, and one or two others. This can be got around using their own SMTP settings but let me know who you're using.

Hi Adizard, I've checked your account (based on the email address you supplied with your post), and you don't have any domains registered with us so I'm not sure why you expect this to work? If you do have a domain elsewhere I'd suggest you contact your provider and talk to them.

Adel, please review the section in the article about Outgoing/SMTP as this is the key source of outgoing mail issues: "The next tab is the 'Outgoing' tab. You need to check or select the 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' option."

I am having the same issues as many people above. I am trying to set up my webmail account into Entourage. I receive emails just fine but I can't send them out. My account settings are fine. I checked with my ISP (ATT). After speaking with several people that don't know what they are talking about it looks like the port is probably being blocked. We tried using their smtp.att but it's still not working. Now they want to charge me just to talk to a tech person which is making me really pissed off. They want to charge me for a service I already pay for. I am really frustrated. Could it be something else??

Hi JSTLeotine: The main advantage is having your domain and site under one roof so to speak. In some cases we offer cheaper domain pricing (when you factor in 5 free email addresses) if your domain is up for renewal.

But if you are happy with your current provider, you have plenty of time left on your domain and it's pointing to your site without issue - just leave it where it is.

What is the advantage of transferring a domain name to Moonfruit from an existing provider. I have the domain pointing to the Moonfruit site and it works fine.
Does the transfer cost include the renewal subscription or is that extra ?

HI Neil,

As long as you are using one of your mail boxes (not the aliases) and using the server: pop.platinum-records.co.uk with the correct password you shouldn't have any problems.

But I'd suggest you contact support - should this not work - and provide us with the username, server settings, email address and port of the incoming and outgoing mail. I'd rather do that privately than have your email settings published here publicly.

Kind regards,

Hi Dayrron,

If you contact support and give us details of the MX records and the domain you wish to apply it to then we can have a look and either a) do it for you or b) advise you what to do. Our system doesn't currently support domain management so you won't be able to change it your self through Moonfruit. It is something we are negotiating with our Domain Partner but it's still a way off yet being directly available to our customers.

But in your case contact Support using the form under Help and they'll be able to provide the best solution for you .

Thanks,

We also use Google Apps for our email provider. We have registered our domain with Moonfruit, can you please tell us how to configure the MX records on Moonfruit, as per Google's requirements? We have done this fairly simply with other registrars. Thank you!

Hi Oliver1954,

Sounds like a setting in Outlook. You need to go to More Settings then the Advanced tab and ensure the box at bottom is checked for 'Leave a copy of message on the server'.

Outlook automatically saves a local copy to your computer's hard drive (when you use POP3) but wipes the original from the server once it's downloaded or accessed.

If your happy with getting to More Settings give it a go.

If not, then follow the instructions below:

In Outlook go to Tools -> Email Accounts -> View or change existing e-mail accounts -> highlight your mail account -> Change (button on side) -> More Settings (button at bottom) -> Advanced tab -> (check box) Leave a copy of message on the server.

NB. Out of interest using IMAP, automatically saves to server (defaults to yes) and you have to turn it off if you want to clear down your server mails automatically. Though it still saves a copy locally.

Hope that helps,

Hi Walt,
I have set up my site email in MS Outlook, that all seems to work fine but the problem is that all of the contents of my "inbox" on the webmail server has vanished!
Sent mail is still there though.
I have noticed today that mail that is being delivered to MS Outlook is not staying on the server, is there a way to fix this so that I can access webmail when I can't get onto outlook?

Regards,

Hi Mairi,

Within Webmail itself, no you can't set up rules but you certainly can through the Moonfruit interface. Login to your account on Moonfruit, go to Domains, find the domain associated with your email address and click on the link to Email & Settings.

This is where you can manage one of your addresses to forward all emails to another external email address.

Hope that makes sense.

Hi Walt,

Thanks for your reply. If I understand correctly, you are suggesting we leave the current site where it is (so it can be maintained by the current webmaster), then transfer it to Moonfruit only when the new design site is ready? The domain is currently owned and managed by someone else (a colleague), not me, but will transfer to my ownership as we transfer the domain (with his agreement) to Moonfruit, right? And at the point of transfer I can ask you you to point the domain at the new site.. is that correct?

Alternatively, if we leave the domain permanently with PlusNet, how could I switch from the current website to my new (Moonfruit design) site?

Sorry if I sound a bit confused still!

Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian,

The domain as far as we are concerned is yours. Not ours. So if you transfer it across to us and you owned it pre-transfer then you own it post transfer.

If you transfer the domain across we would have to point the domain back to the web servers where the existing website resides. This would ensure anyone using the domain would see the current site. Once your Moonfruit website is complete we would then just point the domain name at our own web servers.

Before you transfer just make sure that if you have email you back up all mail as once you move your domain the previous host will wipe the emails from their servers.

The pointing will require our intervention (back end management) but as long as you give Support advance notice and the correct details we should be able to complete this for you without too many problems.

If you wish someone (a webmaster) to edit the domain zone file or records then that is not something we can currently provide. You could transfer to Gandi (our domain partner) who offer full domain management tools (we are working on improving these at present and hope to have something live early Q1 2011) but that may defeat the purpose of transferring your domain. So to be honest, you may simply be better leaving your domain stationary unless you really want out of PlusNet.

I'd rather you know what you can and can't do and make an informed decision based on those facts.

I hope that helps.

Hi Walt,
Quick question (as I'm very new to this!) We want to transfer the domain name of a current, and long-standing, .co.uk site to moonfruit so I can then "point" it at a new site I'm developing on Moonfruit. But we don't want to activate the new site til December. If we initiate the domain transfer now, presumably the domain will be owned by me - will it just "sit there" (ie people can still access the existing site) until I "point it/allocate it" to the newly designed site?
Thanks

Hi,

Simply deselect SSL and it should work. On the SMTP Server (Outgoing) panel you need to go to the Security and Authentication section and ensure that the 'Use Name and Password" box is checked. The next section down, Connection Security should be set to 'None'.

That should fix your problem.

hi, i'm using thunderbird and the incoming server is set up fine but when i try to send emails using SSL it comes up with the following error message:

Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server smtp.oxbridgechoral.co.uk failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again, or contact the server administrator.

The password and username are the same as the incoming server. The username is correctly entered as the full mailbox. If I use STARTTLS this appears:

Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.oxbridgechoral.co.uk timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.

Hi Walt

I have successfully transferred my domain name into Moonfruit, however when I try to assign my domain name to my account it says.....

Your additional address has been added , the domain does not point to the correct IP address. Please make sure that you have asked your domain name provider to point your domain's 'A' record to 146.101.249.107. If you have recently updated the 'A' record , it may take 72 hours for the change to take effect.

Can you please tell me what this means and what I have to do.

Hi Walt,

I'm ready to transfer my domain name over to Moonfruit from Webs and have had my tag changed to GANDI.

Webs have said I don't need to do anymore with them now as they have changed my tag and the domain is unlocked. I asked if I needed an autorization code and they said this......

[12:29:29 PM] Jamal: Yes, it's unlock. Now you can use the IPS tag as the authorization code. So what you'll need to do is go to the host you're trying to transfer this domain to and finalize the process.

Could you advise me what I actually need to do now.

Thanks again for all your help,

Hi Bob,

Thanks for letting us know. I've checked your order and we sent a confirmation email to you which you must reply to for the order to continue. But I see the problem. It looks like you have 'Privacy' enabled on the domain. The email address your provider is using is: proxy1201506@1and1-private-registration.com

You will need to contact them and request that Privacy be turned off. We will then relaunch the order so that you get the Transfer Confirmation email to reply to. Once we have your reply it should not take long to process.

One hint though. Do not use any emails associated with your domain: chateaudesignsllc.com. The moment you initiate a transfer your current provider will begin process of wiping your mail from their servers and your email address will be disabled until you set up a new mailbox on our system. So you may need to check that you have an accessible email address registered with your domain.

Hope that helps. And please just reply to the ticket we responded to you with when you sort out the Privacy so that we can relaunch your order.

Many thanks.

I can see your site name is True-Temptations but the website address was entered as you've described above. But that was easily fixed and has now been amended to: true-temptations.moonfruit.com

My site address however says http://true-temptatons.moonfruit.co...

Hi TT,

When you login to your Trial package it will offer you upgrade to paid or Free - there will be buttons on your page to take either of these options.

No it doesn't matter if you transfer or pay if you go for the Lite package. Either way you will have to pay for the domain transfer but just make sure that you login to your account to link the site to the domain.

We operate a Support system by email only. This allows us to manage customer queries more efficiently on a queue based system though we prioritise more urgent queries over general ones.

You are free to upgrade at any time and we credit any unused time on your existing account to your new account. So if you upgrade your Lite account after 6 months you will get half your subscription (for an annual package) credited to the new package.

We do not modify site addresses except under express permission of the customer. The system simply saved what has been input. Is it possible you made a mistake on the address initially? If you need it changed, and the address is available, we should be able to fix that for you.

Thanks,

Hi Margia,

Well either the outgoing server isn't being authenticated (you need to tick the Authenticate box on the Outgoing Server tab in Outlook) or port 25 is being blocked.

They are the two most common reasons for mail failing to send.

I've also removed admin and resume from your mailbox as you had already set these up as forwards and this would have caused a conflict with your mail addresses.

If you continue to have problems please contact support with as much detail about the settings you are using for the Outgoing server as well as who your ISP is and whether you have contacted them regarding the use of Port 25.

Thanks

Hi Walt,

Yes I am on trial package at the moment, I didn't realise I could have a free site and still transfer my domain name over! Can't have the free one anyway as I need more pages then it offers me.

I assume then it doesn't matter if I pay first or transfer the domain name first??

It would be alot easier if I could just call someone to ask.

Another thing, whichever package I decided to choose, if I would like to upgrade to the next package up, is this possible? Incase I need more bandwidth etc.

Lastly there seems to be something wrong with my moonfruit web address! The name I have signed up under I assume should be part of my moonfruit address www.myname.moonfruit.com

I have noticed though that 'my name' is spelt differently in the web address by having 1 letter missing!! How is this?

Thanks again.

I'm having the same problem. We tried putting the settings on Outlook exactly as stated here, but we still keep having the same problem: we can receive, but not send. Outlook states that there is a problem with the smtp. What can we do? We are using our moonfruit webmail and domain (webmail.mblancocg.com) and we want to set it up for outlook. Nothing seems to work either.

Sorry TT,

I thought I did answer your question by offering you a choice. But the best thing really is to decide what package you want. I assume you are on a trial at present. You haven't made clear what package you are currently on. You can transfer over your domain on a Free package if you like or a paid one. So if you are on a Trial account then just decide Free or paid. The pricing page does list what you get but with a paid package you will get Support.

Either way if you want just one site in your account then you can choose a Free account or a Lite account and will then pay for the transfer. Just make sure you are logged in to your account when you transfer.

I hope that makes things clearer.

Hi Angela,

Who is your ISP? We have numerous cases of some ISPs (Orange, Talk Talk) using port 25. Which means the SMTP server can't be used to send mail. In those cases the simplest solution is talk to your ISP or go onto their site and find out their own SMTP settings.

For example you could easily use something like: smtp.orange.net if your ISP is Orange. But you need to check with your provider.

Give that a try and see how you get on but this has been a common problem.

Hi TT,

All good questions. If you anticipate building more than one site then then the Standard package - which allows up to 5 sites - gives you one free domain voucher which you could use to transfer you current domain into us.

If you are happy with just one site then you can simply transfer your domain in and pay online.

So once you've decided whether you want one site or several the next best thing is to set up an account. You can use the 14 day free trial to create your site (though you can deleted this site and start again if you like) and then either go Free or upgrade to one of the paid packages.

Site built, and still logged in, then go to the Domains tab and start the domain transfer process. Just make sure your domain is unlocked and that you follow the instructions on screen. Once the transfer is fully completed you can then assign your domain to your website. Oh and don't forget to back up any emails you have on your domain as you will lose these off the mail server of your current host.

Hope that helps.

Hi Margia,

yes I can see your domain transfer from August 3rd. The being reported back is an error in the Authorisation Key. Can you please return to your current domain name provider and get a new Transfer Authorisation Key or confirm the existing one. I have set up a ticket for you on our support system and emailed you instructions. Please respond to that thanks.

Hi Lewis,

I understand this has now been sorted. Your domain went live within hours but it did take almost a day to propagate. Though I think there was more to it as per your later email. But hopefully it's all working correctly now.

Thanks - Walt

URGENT PLEASE HELP :-)

I have just taken the plunge and transferred our domain to moonfruit because we built our temporary site with you while creating the main one. In the end the moonfruit tool was just so easy to use. BUT....Our little company relies heavily on Google Apps and with our current hosting provider it was as easy as updating the MX Records :-)

I have been searching the forums but can't see anyway for us to update the MX records on moonfruit to point to google. The a-record re-direct is under way and so we expect all mail traffic to be pointing to moonfruit within next 36 hours.

If we can't update the mx records then this whole operation would have been a waste of time and effort as we will have to transfer back :-(

Hello,

My transfer says "status is pending" ever since I started the domain transfer about a month ago! What can I do? It's been way too long and I need the website done by next week. Is there any way to fix this? Can I re-do the transfer to see if it works without having to pay for it again? Let me know please,

Hi Justin,

Which mailbox are you having problems with. I noticed you had duplicated the aliases (admin@, info@, support@) on two of your mail boxes (justin and gareth). And the remaining info@ alias conflicts with your Info@ mailbox. That will definitely cause problems as our system won't know which mail box to deliver the mail to.

I've removed the offending aliases. So trying retrieving your mail now. With regards sending please ensure you have the Outgoing server authenticated using the incoming server details. This should be fairly obvious on clients like Outlook but it depends on the version you are using. If it still fails please give us more details on the mail box, how you're setting it up, what client you are using and if you have tested this on webmail.

Thanks - Walt

Hi Michael,

Sorry about that. I can only spot one ticket from you in our system - checking against your given email address and dated yesterday afternoon. Is it possible you used another email address to contact us on?

That apart transferring will simply require us to release your domain and handle to you so that you can manage the transfer yourself through our domain partner Gandi.

I've released your handle (username/account) and your domain to you now, and sent an email to the address registered against the domain with instructions on how to use gandi.net. One thing I would point out is through Gandi you will be able to manage your domain fully (DNS, nameservers, email etc) and point it to external websites.

This is something we are still waiting on Gandi to set up for us so that we can offer that to our own customers as we understand how useful this is. But the domain control is now yours.

Regards - Walt

Hey -

I've sent out two general inquiries via your contact form and have yet to hear a response. I am looking to transfer my domain name away from Moonfruit as it simply isn't going to suit our needs for the future of our site. Can you please advise on how to do so? Unfortunately, w were supposed to have our new splash page up and running by today, but since it hasn't been transfered over yet, I doubt I can now reach that goal...

Please be in touch ASAP.

You will need to use 'GANDI' (without the 'H'). Contact your current host and they should be able to fix this for as they would not, I assume, have been able to process the transfer with an incorrect IPS Tag.

Hi,

I have just tried to transfer my domain name from uk-cheapest.co.uk to moonfruit.
I changed the 'tag' to GHANDI then payed for the transfer fee on their website, then came back onto here, completed the set up and payed your £10.99 transfer fee, which all went through fine.
But now when I come on to the moonfruit back end it says "status pending - your order has been received but you now have to change the 'tag' to GHANDI", but I have already done this and payed for it.
I even tried to change it to GHANDI again but then it takes me straight through to the payment area again.

I have tried emailing uk-cheapest about this but they are a nightmare and will not reply.
I don't know if it has been transferred or not as I am not receiving any confirmation emails and nobody is getting back to me.
I thought it would be any easy transfer to moonfruit, but it's turning into a nightmare!!!

I need some help please

Thanks,

Hi Angus,

Thanks for the feedback. We did reply to your ticket - in fact on 18/06/2010 13:15 - but have had no response back to our questions.

There should be no reason to get a send fail if you are logging in to webmail on your Mac or iPhone after all you are simply going online through a web browser - though we would actually recommend using pop/imap over the webmail as it offers more functionality through a client.

I'll re-open the ticket but we do need some feedback from you to help you resolve this. Screen shots of the error, the address you are sending too would help us.

The email address we replied to was:

Cheers for the post. Just to clarify I do know that you use imap/pop but just referring to the fact I wanted to use my 'webmail' i.e. my moonfruit domain email, on my iphone & mac mail. I've tried your instructions again and it doesn't work for both email addresses related to the following sites www.open-brief.com and www.vonrosenlund.com. Not sure what is happening?

Our ticket number is Ticket: 2010061801002764. email 4571d3F.

Also we are experience the same problems setting this up via mac mail.

Look forward to receiving a swift reply.

Hi Dana,

Sorry forgot to reply to your comment. We have not had any issues with the mail server for months and we currently have no service errors. Could you please contact support and give us full details for all settings used on Outlook especially the Outgoing server and whether Authentication is still enabled.

By the way who do you use as your ISP as we do occasionally have problems with them switching ports that disables the SMTP forcing users to switch their ISP's SMTP server settings.

Hope that helps.

Hi Angus,

Just to clarify, you don't use Webmail on your iPhone you actually use the IMAP/POP protocol. This provides more functionality than trying to access webmail through the Safari browser.

I'll post details below on setting up your mail client. With regards contacting support can you please supply a ticket number so we can check why you didn't get a response. I couldnt find any tickets against your email address and your username as you written it doesn't show up on our system.

With regards Marco, you will note that we had actually responded to his query so he was getting support.

---- ---- ----

Setting up your iPhone

Once you have confirmed that your username (mailbox address) and password work you can now go to your iPhone and input these settings. If in doubt always refer to your iPhone manual or the Apple website for further details or help.

1. Once you are in Mail (Mail, Contacts, Calendar) you will need at use 'Add Account...' to create a new email account on your phone.

2. On the list of Options (e.g. Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo) you will need to use 'Other' create a IMAP/POP account.

3. Under 'Mail' (should be top of screen) select the 'Add a Mail Account' option.

4. Complete the fields under 'New Account' using the following format:

* Name = what ever you want to call this account [e.g. your name, work, website]
* Address = this is your full mailbox address e.g. name@mydomain.com
* Password = what ever you chose when setting up the mailbox
* Description = choose the default or set this up as you wish

5. Click 'Save'

6. Decide if you want to use the default IMAP option or select POP. Below you will find details for IMAP (though POP should not differ at all)

7. The Name, Address and Description fields should already be populated with the details provided above

8. Incoming Mail Server:

* Host Name = imap.mydomain.com [please insert your domain name only without the www]
* User Name = your full mailbox address
* Password = aad your mailbox password (even if it is populated)

9. Outgoing Mail Server:

* Host Name = smtp.mydomain.com [please insert your domain name only without the www]
* User Name = your full mailbox address
* Password = add your mailbox password

10. Click 'Save'

11. You will get an error message. This relates to our certificate being registered for the domain 'gandi.net' - our domain name provider. It will not match your domain name, hence the error you will see. N.B. Ignoring this error does NOT make your email less secure.

Secure Connection Failed - The certificate for [your full mailbox address] may not be valid.

12. Click 'Continue'. If you see 'Details' feel free to check the certificate then press 'Accept'.

13. Once the incoming (IMAP) server has been verified you will get another error message. This is identical to the one above but for the outgoing server. N.B. As above continuing with these settings does NOT make your email less secure.

Secure Connection Failed - The certificate for [smtp.mydomain.com] may not be valid

14. Again, click 'Continue'. If you see 'Details' feel free to check the certificate then press 'Accept'.

15. Your account should now be set up.

Finally

These are standard settings. They will work on ANY device that support POP and IMAP. So if you have any doubt about how to set up your iPhone please refer to your iPhone manual or the Apple website for further details or help.

Hope that helps.

Guys,

I am just setting up my new site and need to get my webmail working on my iphone and mac mail. I've emailed the it support but haven't got a reply yet (via user name von rosenlund). Now I've followed everything very closely and tried 1,000 times. I can recieve emails but not send them, the error message is the recipient x was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying. What am I doing wrong?

I urgentlly need to get this working for both my domains.

I would really appreciate some help.

hi
i purchased a domain yesterday from 1 and 1, I wish to transfer it to moonfruit which I have contacted them about, my question is that until my domain name transfers over to moonfruit I will not be able to publish my website, the site name will be eventually "event-full.co.uk but until it transfers over I will have to use event-full.monnfruit.com.
is this right? or is there a way around it.

HI Chris,

Your website is fine. Just your domain has hit a glitch but sometimes happens. We sorted that out and are now waiting for your domain to propagate with the new settings (on our servers) around the web.

With luck it should only be a few hours but may take till tomorrow morning before your domain kicks in.

Hi Marie,

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems but can you explain what you mean by transferring. Do you actually mean your domain name rippingyarns.co.uk? That successfully completed on Apr 30 2010 at 2:15PM. We can see that it has been successfully assigned to your website.

I can also see that you have set up your mailbox rippingyarns@rippingyarns.co.uk successfully with several aliases. Plus we have responded to two of your ticketed queries.

Can you confirm that this is all now working?

We are having a complete and utter NIGHTMARE transferring our website. It is a commercial site and therefore losing business. We were not advised one bit that there would be complications with transferring our website, our emails have all been blocked. There is NO ONE to talk to about this. It's an absolute outrage. We do not have the time for all this faffing about and now our website is totally screwed. What exactly do you suggest we do?

Hi Gee,

If you have transferred in or bought a domain through us then you can create up to 5 mailboxes on that domain. So if you log in to Moonfruit, (not your site but using the same username/password), go to Domains you can create or transfer in a domain name. Use the free domain voucher - if provided - and once complete you can set up your mailboxes through the Manage tab (in Domains).

Hope that helps.

I have tried to follow the instructions to set up my email on two of my machine, Entourage Mac, Outlook PC, but both of them failed. I am able to receive emails perfectly, but unable to send out emails. I already checked the box of SMTP server requires authentication, as well as using the same username and password as incoming mail server, but still, no luck. As a business owner i feel extremely inconvenient to have to rely on the webmail for emailing as it only provides very limited functionality.

I already send out a request form to support team over a day and still not having any reply on this matter. I am getting extremely frustrated as the only information provided just cannot solve my issue.

This is a pure pain especially the fact that there is no direct support line provided. Luckily I only joined one month to test run it.

Very not satisfied.

Hi Jack,

Your domain is fine. It's transferred correctly and you've assigned it to your site in the proper way. The only thing left for you to do is set your preferred address.

You can do this by going to Domain on toolbar, then on the sidebar use the 'This website's address'. You can then set your preferred address, e.g. your domain, www.freeflushcornwall.co.uk

That apart all looks good.

Hi Leo,

Sure that wouldn't be a problem. We would simply have to ensure that the website meets the Free site criteria and down grade the package. So as long as your site is beneath 20MB in file space usage and has less than 15 pages there won't be a problem.

Simple use the query form under help to contact Support and request this downgrade once you are happy your site meets the Free site criteria.

Thanks

I've tried to transfer my domain name to attach it to my moonfruit site. I've updated the A name on the previous server and sitemaker has transfered it in but still says I need to change the A name.

Any advice?

Hi Shawn,

Yes it is an oversight on our part as the process to transfer out requires some back-end administration. The interface we currently use with our domain partner is currently undergoing an upgrade so we hope to have a lot more features available to customers in the future with regards domain management.

If you wish to transfer out any domains simply contact support and give them domain details. How the process works at present is this.
1. Your request a domain to be transferred out.
2. We currently would have to release all domains (you own) under our control to you, which means you log in to gandi.net (Gandi is our domain partner) and not Moonfruit
3. Once you log in to Gandi you can locate the domain or domains and use the interface to transfer out very simply and very quickly

So, simply contact support and request a transfer out and we'll release all your domains immediately.

Hope that helps.

I'm forced to put my comment on this thread. I cannot find any information on how to transfer away from Moonfruit. I'm aware that the domain needs to be unlocked and the DNS needs to be updated to point to our new hosting company; however, I cannot get any clear information on how to do this. And nothing in the control panel or help files is helpful in this regard.

Please provide us with the correct method for transfering our site to our new host.

Thank you.

Hi Mike,

You deleted this site on Feb 3 and then created a new site:
coolrunningequipment.kk5.org

Your account will only hold one site. We could easily recover the other site but we would have to delete the current one based on your current package.

I'm sorry about the slow response as we have been having a particularly busy January. I can see in our system that you first made contact on the 29 Jan and we did reply four days later which is quite poor for us. We had to place a large number of quite urgent tickets ahead of yours so I am sorry for the delay.

But judging by your response to our reply you have now managed to sort this out.

Regards

Hi Sal,

Your domain and handle have been 'released' from our reseller account. You will have received an email from gandi.net with how to gain access to your Gandi account. This means that you will have full access to your DNS, zone files and more - something we are looking to introduce this year once Gandi has finished work on their new system.

But for the minute, you will be able to point your domain to where ever you like.

Hope that helps.

Hi Andy,

All your site are working perfectly. The problem we have is that you transferred in your domains from easily then immediately transferred them out again.

Your www.littlefoxwood.org.uk domain is now pointing correctly and with it being set as preferred domain all others revert to this for your site. So it looks to be working correctly.

The same cannot be said for www.littlefoxwood.co.uk which is still showing in our system as wrong IP or masked but then a whois look up shows the domain still being processed.

Registrar:
Easily Limited t/a easily.co.uk [Tag = WEBCONSULTANCY]
URL: http://www.easily.co.uk

Relevant dates:
Registered on: 25-Jan-2010
Renewal date: 25-Jan-2012
Last updated: 01-Feb-2010

Registration status:
Registration request being processed.

Name servers:
dns0.easily.co.uk 212.53.77.27
dns1.easily.co.uk 212.53.64.31

WHOIS lookup made at 18:42:31 02-Feb-2010

In all cases we have tried to assist you in your requests though transferring out immediately after your transfer in has made the process a little more challenging.

Opening four tickets for the one request has also made our job just a little more complicated as that meant several staff investigating the same problem.

I'm not sure what else we can do for you as your domains remain with Easily and we have no control over those domains. Easily need to be contacted with regards your A record though using either domain does currently revert to the working domain and the website.

So, if you can please just reply to the one ticket #2010012601003588 in which we have been having an extensive dialogue with you about this problem over the last few days.

Kind regards

Please help.
I have 4 websites that I manage and run through Monfruit, am a Premium customer and have registered quite a few domain names. For some reason Moonfruit are unable to sort out a problem with my domains www.littlefoxwood.co.uk and www.littlefoxwood.org.uk. These names are now managed by Easily.co.uk and everythign appears to be set up to work correctly but neither site is visible. I have repeatedly requested support from moonfruit and am unable to get any response from them as to the nature of the problem or any solutions of time scales.

I am now at the end of my tether and seriously considering taking the step of cutting my losses, and starting to build new sites with other hosting companies.

Please help.
Many thanks,

Cristiane, if you are using your website for business I would go for a www.mysite.com as it looks more professional, its much easier for people to remember and of course your email address will match upto your site name, if its a personal site just go for whatever your happy with but keep it short some of the MF subs domains i've seen are like http://onewordanotherwordthenevenan... !!

I wish MoonFruit would allow you to integrate Google Apps. With Apps you can have up to 50 email accounts with your own domain name! You just need to be able to create a sub domain (mail.yoursite.com) and it just redirects you to Google Apps to login in.

The transfer was successful but you only included the root domain, yourbirthright.com which you assigned correctly. You didn't add the www.yourbirthright.com version. I've also set that as the preferred domain so that will be the one that all addresses end up on.

I transfered my URL/domain name www.yourbirthright.com without a hitch. got the confirmation emails from Gandi and Sitemaker.

Unfortunately the domain is notworking. I have associated it with my account website yourbirthright.moonfruit.com and i see a message that says i need to point to the correct IP address or something like that.

My transfer was completed successfully. It is my understanding that it should be pointing where it needs to point automatically. please HELP!

Best you contact Support, give them account details, what addresses you are trying to set up and details of Outlook.

Generally, if you follow the same path for the 2nd addresses you shouldn't have problems. We have to assume that you have set up other Mailboxes (not aliases) under your domain's email settings.

Hi - do you know if you can show a calendar (or a widget of a calendar) on a Moonfruit site? I am running a small caravan park and want to show website visitors if we have space, are partly full or we are fully booked on a particular date. or if a date has a special event (URL link).. Thanks
Ted

I used 123reg for a couple of domain names in the early years and they charged £18 per year just for a web mail account and the lack of support i got was terrible, keep trying with them you'll get there in the end i'm sure!

Hi Eilleen,

Sure. Our current interface doesn't give you full domain management just basic. But we can release your domain and 'handle' (account/username) to you so that you can login in to gandi.net (our domain partner) directly. By doing this you will have full technical management over your domain and it's associated records e.g. cname, A, MX etc.

Could you contact support please and request this, so that we can track the request and confirm all the details for you. Just use the support form in Help and we should be able to sort this for you fairly quickly.

Thanks

Hi Sunbeach,

I'm very surprised to read your comment. We are very particular about changing any details unless we have proof of ownership first. Normally we will require a written request to come in from the email address registered on the account or ask for some other identifying details.

We certainly do not just change login details for someone over the phone. I cannot check the validity of your claim as the web address you provided is not one of our sites. If you could contact us through the Support Form I'd be happy to follow this up.

Thanks - Walt

Hi Andy,

Most domain name providers do not require the name servers for the receiving host.
But in our case you can give them the following (primary/secondary):
a.dns.gandi.net
b.dns.gandi.net

I assume, as you mention the GANDI tag, that you are trying to transfer a .uk domain. Just make sure your contact details are accurate (especially the post code).

Once they have this and your order has been placed through the moonfruit site, the transfer process should start moving.

Hope that helps.

I've read through these paragraphs and I am still having trouble. I bought my domain name on 123-reg and and trying to transfer it. I've emailed them and they have given me all sorts of instructions one of them being I have to fill out a form with nameservers on them and there is no mention of nameservers here. I just want to be able to email them and say can you transfer me and you have to use "gandi" tag but they arnt helping me that way. In idiots language so I can understand... what steps am I actually taking? Has anyone any tips for transferring specifically with 123-reg? I really need help!! Thankyou!

Hi Maurice,

Yes the Registrar is Gandi and they are our partner. We provide a very simple association feature that you could have used through your tool bar. I've done this for you but for future reference all you needed to do was log in and on the tool bar go to Admin > Site Address and add your domains: express-campers.co.uk and www.express-campers.co.uk

This feature automatically provides the association between the website and domain. Buying through our Moonfruit portal automatically set up your A-record to point to your site, you just needed to complete the 2nd step through your site.

And no you do not and did not need to transfer your domain. When you buy a domain through us, your are in fact buying through Gandi, as they are a registered domain name provider. We are reseller so there is no need to transfer between them and us. Transferring only applies when trying to move your domain hosting between one domain name provider and another. We aren't a provider, we use Gandi, so a transfer isn't relevant in this situation - simple adding your domains to your site is enough.

Details are provided on many aspects of domain purchase and transfer within the T&Cs that must be agreed to before you can purchase or transfer a domain and we also provide details in our FAQ.

That said, buying and transfer domains can be complicated and we are still trying to make this more simple. The bottom line is your domain now works with your site.

Kind regards

Walt

I recently purchased a domain name through moonfruit (express-campers.co.uk) and duly received the confirmation email from Nominet, which also stated that the registrar was Gandi. I am currently building my website with SiteMaker and today I was looking at how to attach my site to my domain name. Apparently I need to get Gandi to 'point' my domain name at your servers. Gandi says that my domain is managed by a reseller - namely you, so why can't you point it at your servers? Now, reading these posts, I find that (unless I'm reading it wrong), I need to transfer (at a cost) my domain name from Gandi to yourselves, but I can't do anything for 60 days anyway! None of this was made clear when I bought the domain name and I don't think it was unreasonable of me to assume that, having built a website in Moonfruit and bought a domain name through Moonfruit, I would be able to link the two together!
I currently have 4 days left on the free trial and, quite honestly, I'm loathe now to purchase a full package from you.

Hi Andrew,

Your domain is working fine. It is fully associated with your site. I've even added the root domain to your list (http://designrainbow.com/) as you only had the http://www.designrainbow.com/ listed. I've also enabled the latter as your preferred domain but you can easily change this.

Details on this (and the problems around pointing) are supplied in our email reply which you should have already received.

Thanks for your email Walt
and to say the transfer of designrainbow.com went through and is now apparently with Gandi this all happened after i got a an email from the moonfruit support team
but it seems my domain will still not come under my website http://designrainbow.com i;e like when it was supposed to pointing ( from when i was under Enom)
a whois confirms Gandi as the registrar and all nameservers associated with designrainbow.com seem to be ok this is for gandi net

there are also three other dns names coming up under GANDI SAS, i also did a dns report see here http://thednsreport.com/?domain=des... if you do a whois for designrainbow.com you will see its registered but with no website
i am also unable to assign this as a site address for my website
something about your domain has been added but does not exsist, that one needs to point this too 146 101 249 107 please also allow up to 72 hours

As you can tell this is what i was trying to get across and at one stage i was able to assign designrainbow.com to my free moonfruit address even when i was under Enom the question is what do i do now the transfer has gone through no email has come from Gandi saying that they will now manage designrainbow so i sent two support tickets to them asking what was going on,

in the meantime i am still seriously thinking about going over to the reseller package and using designrainbow.com on a commercial basis but how can i when the web address for it keeps bringing a blank page its as if this domain has brought me nothing but problems so i am looking at maybe getting a back up domain name as not to lose any clients/visitors who look at my photography

Until your domain completes there is little we can do about pointing. Only once completion has occurred can the DNS be managed. While it is in transfer we have no control. Hopefully this will not take too long.

Hi Walt

Just a final update on the progress of what's happening with my domain designrainbow.com seeing as the transfer is going through it is now showing up under manage domains with a status pending. The new provider/registrar for designrainbow.com will be Gandi and did the transfer through moonfruit using one of my domain vouchers after i got ENOM/Expiry.com to unlock it which was done when i

was having all these issues with my website not showing up properly http://designrainbow.com this is still accessible through http://photo-art.org.uk
As with contacting support i think there is no need to unless something happens after the transfer has gone through so far i have been successful in this field
my main concern it will take up to five days and in the meantime designrainbow.com is active but not pointing at my site

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the update. I can see the transfer has been requested by you and the confirmation email has been replied to.

A mute point now that you have transferred in your domain is that the actual IP address is 146.101.249.107 not 106.101...as you wrote above. But that doesn't matter now that you have begun the transfer. The zone file, A-record are the same it just depends on which provider you use. And this would be file or record you change so that your domain 'points' to your website. Pointing your domain (that is keeping it with your provider and associating it with your website on another server does not require unlocking. A locked or unlocked domain should have no impact on your provider checking your DNS record. They manage it (or in your case DID manage it) so they would have full access to check. Again a mute point now.

Unlocking your domain is only necessary when transferring out and has nothing to do with pointing. But then it depends on the information that the provider has given.

I mention this only as there can often be confusion about pointing. However once you have transferred your domain in, this will not be an issue. Once it has completed we will ensure that it points to your site and is fully associated with it.

If you do have any further specific queries, I would advise though contacting Support and notifying them so that they can address your questions or issues directly.

Thanks, and good luck with your site.

Thanks for getting back to me Walt regarding my recent problems in trying to get my domain designrainbow.com to point at my website. I read your reply and have now decided to go down the route of doing a transfer which is now going to being handled via Ghandi the process of this went rather smoothly as i had everything at hand to ask my registrar Enom or Expiry.com ( who happen to be the ones managing designrainbow.com) to unlock my domain, they weren't able to help me find out why designrainbow.com was'nt properly pointing to 106.101.249.107 and kept telling to add it to my host records

As with the zone file haven't a clue what that is as this is what comdot was mentioning to me after i posted something on the forums about my issues regarding designrainbow.com bringing up the subject of getting this to point to 106.101.249.107
as this was in lock status there was no way i could get my registrar to see if they held the original settings (DNS) at one stage designrainbow.com was working perfectly alongside http://adphotography.moonfruit.com and now it doesn't

i fully understand the process of transfering a domain like moving it from one provider to the other as once designrainbow.com goes over to Ghandi then this would have been my fourth transfer since 2004 something i don't really want to do as i want to upgrade my package by hopefully going on to the reseller side of moonfruit and hopefully use designrainbow.com for that other than that my current website is performing well and has recieved a lot of good feedback too

Hi Ruben,

I managed to find your ticket against your email address (you missed a few digits in the ticket number but not to worry). We did reply to the two queries you sent with follow up. At the time we replied there were specific processes for dealing with domains, releasing them to the customer and change of ownership.

I'll clarify the situation when it comes to domain ownership for you and see what I can do to assist.

1. When you buy a domain you become the legal owner (or lessee) of that domain and your details are listed with the Registry (the organisation responsible for managing a type of domain e.g. .uk, .com, .net).

2. After you buy a domain you cannot transfer in or out or modify your domain for 60 days - a rule or limitation upheld by the industry and all domain name providers.

3. If you wish to change owner you can contact the domain name provider, pay a fee and get this legally changed for you.

4. Many domain name providers retain ownership of the domain, while giving the user a lease on the domain. Gandi does enable full ownership and following the 60 days limitation post purchase or transfer in enables all users to have full access to their domain.

So, what can we do about this? We have now clarified the processes to enable a range of options. In your case, and having checked your account, I can see you have been a long time customer and the 60 day rule no longer applies. Therefore we have no problem with releasing your domains to you so that you can manage them as you see fit. If we release one domain - heathertrewfoundation.org - then we have release them all.

So we can release your Gandi Handle (user name) to you with all your domains. This means that you would manage your account and domains through Gandi.net. You then have many more tools and features and it also gives you the ability to do a change owner request which we cannot process.

If you wish to change owner on the heathertrewfoundation.org domain you would then need to contact Gandi and request the change. They will and do perform this operation often - but it will incur a small fee.

If you can confirm that you wish your handle released, I will have it done for you today, with login details supplied so can start the change-owner process as soon as you like.

I will open a new ticket for you and confirm the above and if you let me know how you wish to proceed. We will sort this for you.

Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention.

Regards

Hi Walt,

In reference to the Comment I posted April 12 and you responded on April 13, that you could not find my ticket -- the ticket number is : 200912201000662 ---- I also sent an email to Gandi last week and received a response immediately they told me that I need to contact Sitemaker and request that sitemaker/moonfruit release the domain to the person I want it to go to or to myself so that I can initiate or modify the changes that need to be made. This is an extremely important matter it involves a charity organization that needs the domain name and I simply did them the favor of securing it so that I can build a site through Sitemaker/moonfriut --- now this has become complicated and it seems that even if anyone buys or uses a voucher to purchase a domain through moonfruit -- we have no control over the domain whatsoever- this is not fair and though you seem to want to help me -- the support team over at Sitemaker has been avoiding my requests dates as far back as January 3, 2009.

Walt, can you please assist with this ? do you also need the ticket number or confirmation number from Gandi's response ? if you send me an e-mail- I would be more than happy to forward you the e-mail Gandi sent me.

ruben.malaret@celebrity-pr.com (my email)

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi Andrew,

Can you clarify what you want to achieve. Transferring is the act of transferring from one provider to another. I can see you haven't done this with us through your account.

Pointing is simply modifying the DNS A-record so that the domain is pointed to the website location - our IP address. This simple creates a reference for the domain so it always refers to your site. You do not need to unlock your domain to do this, only if you decide to transfer it out to another provider.

By the looks of it your root domain, designrainbow.com and the sub domain www.designrainbow.com, are not pointing to our servers. According to who.is they display: designrainbow.com A (Record Type) 98.124.198.1 (Bellevue, WA, US)

You may need to go back to your provider and ask them to change the IP address to ours.

As far as I can tell, the domain was renewed through enom on 22 April until 27 Feb 2010 so there is at present no need to pay any transfer fee. It is quite acceptable to keep your domain where it is and simply point it at your website where it should work seamlessly.

If you have any further problems please do contact support and let us know what you've found. In a nutshell though, if you have your A-record pointed to 146.101.249.107 it should work fine. You may also want to consider adding the www.designrainbow.com subdomain to your account also. This is just another record that should be simple to add and ensure that you have the www and root domain covered within your account.

All the best.

Hi Walt
have been reading up on this and have to say transferring or moving a domain can be quite stressful and frustrating too, reason being i have owned this domain http://designrainbow.com since 2004 which i used for one of my websites not with moonfruit but with another webhost taking into account three registry changes as my domain was originally registered in the united states as a standalone ( no attached website) .As the story goes i wanted this to be added on to my business

So set upon getting it transferred from eNom and on to my previous webhost which in a sense was fairly successful until my business hit an unfortunate standstill which left me without a website followed by a domain ( designrainbow) which couldn't be accessed well so i thought. Having made a discovery i realised then i could actually get this released and move it back to its original registry, the next step was to get a website.

Which brings me to Moonfruit and the decision to transfer designrainbow.com over to it
have just got my registrar to agree to unlock my domain due to experiencing various problems in pointing designrainbow.com to the website i have with moonfruit
no search engine like google will pick it up if you use www instead of http://
i did use 146.101.249.107 via my registrar and whois confirms designrainbow.com is pointing to this address. But under site management in my moonfruit control panel

where it allows you to use any domain as you main site address it states the domain has been added but not being recognised until i get my registrar to point this at 146.101.249.107 some thing i am allowed do myself. As the situation lies i will have to pay a transfer fee even though my domain is held for another year with my current registrar don't really want to buy another domain simply because one won't work

I would like to say that I had no problems with communication with webeden to find out how to set up email - and i followed your instructions in both outlook 2007 (okay, it did all the hard work for me, but i did have to double check everything was correct!!) and in windows mail (a poor man's outlook express on vista) and i managed to set it all up with no problems! (although, i also forgot the important forgotten step the first time :) )

thanks for the tutorial: very helpful!

Hi Ruben,

I've searched our Support System for the email address you gave and could find tickets/emails having been sent. If you did contact us through the support form, you would have received an automated response with a ticket number in the Subject line. Could you please just reply with those ticket numbers and we should be able to find your ticket. You may have sent it in under an alternate email, although we do reply to every ticket we receive. Some times it does take a littel longer than the 24 hours we quote if we are exceptionally busy, but we do aim, and succeed, in responding to all logged tickets.

Anyway, let us know the ticket numbers and we will be able to look up you queries and assist with your domain.

Hi Alistair,

After careful review of your queries to our support system, I believe all these issues were resolved by email. You didn't have access to a domains panel or email as you didn't have any domains with us.

I appreciate your frustration. We also get frustrated, especially when a 3rd party, a 'web expert', is blaming us for your email problems when we don't even host your domain or email. It makes life challenging when you are stuck in the middle and wondering who to believe.

If the 'web expert' had explained the correct process to begin with and been honest about who was responsible for the email and domain then you would not have been put in this difficult position. And neither would we.

The Upload file problem was an uncommon Service Disruption which we notified all customers about through numerous sources. While it only affected 20% of our customer base from uploading or saving, we had three senior specialists working on getting this resolved ASAP. For this we can take ownership and apologise.

I would like to state that we did not say that the poor service was due to "keeping costs down" - we offer email support to 1. ensure all customers get answered in order and 2. to pass on cost savings to customers. If we offered telephone support it is unlikely we would offer the value packages we do. On the flip side, our cost savings also go into our development team who are constantly producing high quality improvements and new features on a regular basis with no additional increase to subscription rates. Since before Christmas our team have been busy building a new membership service which is close to completion. This is where our savings go to.

I understand that your email situation has now been clarified - the problem was with your current domain name provider and the email settings (or whoever controlled these) - which is great news. I hope your business is a success and that any further communications we might have offer you a new outlook on our Support.

Regards

Hi Airia,

The error message you quote reads: "...one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was '-------@hotmail.co.uk'"

Does this mean you sent an email to other addresses successfully?

As for "no forwarding", there is forwarding but you have to make a choice between forwarding your mail to an external address or creating a mailbox. If you go to domains on the portal (moonfruit.com) then go to your Email Settings you can use the "Add a new email configuration" option in the drop down. This will enable you to set up forwarding.

As for the error message, could you contact support, as you have done in the past with regards your domain, and give us as much detail about the 'client' you are using e.g. Outlook (or is it express?), the username you are using, and whether you have checked the SMTP Authentication box on the Outgoing tab? Also what address you were trying to send to, and any other details on email address and your account that you think might assist. us.

We can then have a closer look at your account. The details you have provide above are useful but we do need a little bit more information.

Thanks

I have read through everything regarding e-mail the results are interesting:

I have no domain module on my site
I have no webmail
and as already mentioned no access to e-mails

What I really want to do is to tell sitemaker in no uncertain terms where to stick it but I have 4 websites online with them and the work to build again is too much to think about.

Can anyone tell me if these sites are full of problems or is this just a bad moment they are having? (for example yesterday the site would not let me upload files).

this is bloody stressful when your business depends on a company that does not create the pathways to resolve what should be simple issues within a few hours.

I got through to them on the phone in the UK (I'm based in Australia) and they claimed there poor service was to keep costs down, but still would not help me direct (ticket system, which he claimed I would have an answer by end of day - I didn't get one - still waiting siteground)

This is nonsense, they are not the cheapest by a long shot - terrible excuse -

I'm having exactly the same problem, did you find a solution. I hired a web expert who said the problem was with sitemaker

As a result of their incredibly poor customer support I am now without e-mail for the 2nd day running at a very busy time. They really should have more respect for their paying customers, to leave them in the shit like this with no means of dealing with it is out of order. They know it.

Hi Andy,

Your domain is working fine for http://andrew-griffiths.co.uk and http://www.andrew-griffiths.co.uk. I'm curious that you say you received a confirmation email but not from Gandi? Could you provide more details please?

The transfer isn't complete until the receiving provider completes. Normally this should be a seamless operation that happens without interruption but transferring domains is be far one of the most potentially problematic operations on the web. This is largely due to it involving two separate providers, with the donor pass a domain name, the receiver checking ownership/authority, and then modifying names servers and records - all at the same time.

The bottom line is your domain is working as expected.

Hi Jubs,

Yes, under the Support mailbox you can create unlimited aliases. However, this would be a communal mail box ie, to retrieve mail they would have to use the support@ mail box to access the mail with the same username and password. The aliases act purely as funnels to the one mailbox account. If they need individual logins for security reasons then you would need to set them up with their own mailbox so that they have their own login details.

The other thing to be careful with is duplication of addresses. All addresses ie, mailboxes and aliases MUST be unique, otherwise the mail system won't know where to deliver an email with the same name. Say you have another mailbox set up called 'sales' and you also have someone named Ricky you want an alias for. If you set up ricky@domain.com under Sales then neither will get their mail as the system will not know which ricky (Sales or Support) to deliver to. So it will fail. The best thing is to vary the name slightly, say ricky.lastname@ or ricky2@ or rickyX@ for example.

This is no different to any email system including hotmail, gmail or yahoo. Uniqueness is critical.

Hope that helps.

Your website, airia.moonfruit.com, is up and running as expected. And so is your domain name http://www.airia.co.uk/.

If you received a 'Success' email then your transfer should have completed, be up and running and encountered no issues.

It may have been that 'no-mans' land during which your domain has left your old provider and is yet to be completed with us, which does happen, but I'm surprised you got the email if was yet to complete.

The key thing is that from what we can see, both your site and domain is working correctly now.

We talk about this quite a lot. We're doing upgrades to the membership tools first, which are still in development. This is required to set the stage for people who want to create accounts on shops, as this is a type of member. Membership will come first in a month or so, and then we'll pick up the ecommerce project again. Once we do that we'll be able to give you a better idea of delivery date. Thanks,

Hi Marie,

As long as you have the Mailbox name and password you should have no problem logging in. The webmail appearing in French is a bug but only appears if you first fail the login. Normally if you login correctly you will only see webmail in English. This has been logged as a bug.

To fix this:
1. Log in to your webmail
2. Click on 'Preferences' on the toolbar
3. Select 'Prefences du compte' from drop down
4. Scroll down the page of options to 'Service de langue' about half way down
5. Change 'French' to 'English' in drop down
6. Scroll to bottom of page and click 'Sauvegarder' to save your changes.

When setting up non-webmail you can use Pop or Imap. Please just review my response to Cupcake above with how to set this up.

Thanks.

I can't get this to work at all. When I log in, i'm told i'm using the wrong login (i'm not). In addition, the site tells me this in French. What's going on with webmail, and can I use something else instead? What are the POP email settings and servers I can use?

I have also tried the POP & IMAP settings and this still does not work. The reason I chose to have a domain name is that I can have an exclusive email service.

Hi BAZz,

Email has been sent. But for the benefit of others who may be reading this thread, the problem sounds like the User Name you are using to authenticate is just the name you gave the mailbox. The User Name expected is the full mailbox address so Bazz@velocityoflight.co.uk not just Bazz.

I tested this be removing the @domain.com from my own account in Thunderbird and I got the same: Authentication Failed message. Re-entered the full email address for my mailbox and I then had full access to my mail. Try it out and let us know how you got on.

Thanks - Walt

Hi Cupcake,

The login must be your mailbox name e.g. cupcakes@ilovecupcakes.biz and not one of your aliases. As long as your password matches that mailbox you should have no problem. As for the error message in French, this is a known bug and is being dealt with.

If you wish to use Pop/Imap by all means. I'll be publishing a guide to using Email Clients (where you use Pop or Imap) next week on the lounge but I'll drop some notes below.

For receiving mail:

* pop.yourdomain.tld or in your case use -  pop.ilovecupcakes.biz

or you can use

* imap.yourdomain.tld which for you would be -  imap.ilovecupcakes.biz

The outgoing mail (for both pop and imap) would then be:

* smtp.yourdomain.tld or for you -  smtp.ilovecupcakes.biz

Make sure, and this may apply to soinbhe's question, that if using Outlook that you check or tick the box for "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" on the Outgoing Server tab when setting up. If you fail to check this box you won't be able to send mail.

Oh, and don't forget that you must use your Mailbox name, not one of your aliases.

Hope that helps.

Hi Keller,

1. I've tested attachments in IE7, FF3 and Safari 3.2 and if you open the mail (most cases just double click the mail) you will see the files as attachments which you can download. In IE7 and FF3 they are listed underneath the message, although images may be embedded in the mail. With Safari the attachments appear on top of the message.

You have a choice of clicking or double clicking to open the file or right clicking, getting the context menu up, and saving the file to disc.

2. As far as moving mails (spam or genuine) goes, it depends on the browser you use. In some cases (FF and Safari) you just select (or highlight) the files you want to move by using the Ctrl key to individually cherry pick the mails or use Shift to select a range. In IE you can check the box for each mail. Moving them in FF and IE means using the 'move to folder' icon and picking the Spam folder as the destination. Or in Safari you can right click and select move to spam.

All I'd suggest is have a play with the settings, the folders and moving mail about. Once you've done this a few times it should become more obvious.

Hope that helps.

1 - Someone sent me some text attachements and I could not for the life of me work out how to open/download them
Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback Kevin. It's encouraging to hear that our software and our efforts make website building easier.

Bryan, in the short-term, we won't be able to offer this sort of service. We can see how it could be useful, especially to a photographer. We have a long list of features on our 'wishlist' that have been requested and that we'd like to introduce however our development schedule is already booked up till the end of the year. That said, we are always keen to hear of new ideas and if one really excites us then we'll have a closer look. If you haven't already drop a note into the Wishlist section on the forum as we do refer to this for new ideas and suggested improvements.

Thanks

Hi Guys.

As a photographer I need to be able to provide instant galleries created in Adobe Lightroom etc via an ftp server. Are there plans for moonfruit to provide this feature in the near future, or do I need to keep a totally separate website with another provider just for this service. I would much rather build on my existing sites with Moonfruit :)

Hi Edney,

You have 2 choices:

1. You can renew with your current provider and then transfer in at a later date once we have provided this feature - due out in the next 1-2 weeks. Normally, most providers require at least 30 days clear notice of transfer before your expiry date - so you may have been refused a transfer so close to expiry.

2. Or, if permitted you can transfer to Gandi (www.gandi.net) - our domain name partner. We've integrated their system into our software.

I'd suggest checking with your current provider to find out notice period, upgrade if necessary and then look at transfer shortly. If you are considering letting it lapse to buy it through Gandi, I would think again. It can take up to 90 days for the whole process to complete and you would lose access to your domain name for perhaps 30 - 60 days. This is just the way the domain system works.

So if you value your domain name, and you do need to give advanced warning of transfer, renew it with your current provider and then transfer at your leisure. We should have this feature available very shortly.

Hope that helps.

Hi Gee,

The last release included an upload feature for the form. You just need to add the option when editing the form.

As far as shopping cart and seller tools are concerned, we are currently working on these, amongst many other things, so we hope to have something out late summer. probably September.

Thanks

this is all great stuff

Will we be eventually able to upload through a form to our emails?

Also when do you reckon the improved shopping cart release will be out

Thanks

Hey! I'm Cody Mitchell with CJWebDesign.net, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! This update has really helped a lot! Providing a more adequate form for my customers to fill out has made my life just that much easier! I tested it out for the first time today, and was really impressed with it. Thanks Moonfruit! You ROCK!! I've been a moonfruit user since this site was in its beginning stages. It has been really cool to see the evolution in Sitemaker.

YOU ROCK!

Hi Jeff, re transfer, you will be able to, but not yet. We're working on that functionality but it won't be ready until the next release (next month sometime).

As for the file upload on the forms (I presume that's what you mean), you can set this using the 'upload setup' button on the setup tab in the editor.

I hope that helps, Joe

Wow. awesome news

Couple of things

Have you moonfruiters seen the news about google being able to read SWF files and so on? I know we escaped this because of the design moonfruit has always had but will this affect the site design and rankings at all?
Article
http://www.seo.com/blog/google/goog...

Can I transfer .com's over to your service? 5 emails - deadly.

What is upload size on the site upload feature? max ?

thanks

Hi Tom,
The Pop3 settings (e.g. for Outlook) are:
* Incoming server (POP or POP3): pop.yourdomain.tld
* Outgoing server (SMTP): smtp.yourdomain.tld

So in your case you would use pop.timmyplanet.com (incoming) and smtp.timmyplanet.com (outgoing).

Thanks for the feedback Heath

Sean, can you please submit a query through the support form so that we can identify you and your account and see what the problem might be.

Thanks

Hi Chris, we just put a fix out for this, which also affected our forum from displaying for some browsers. Your site now appears under your domain name.

Could we recommend that you set up your domain (A-record) to 'point' to our web servers - this you can do through your domain name provider. This will ensure that your website does get properly spidered by the search engines. Masked forwarding can cause issues with SEO which is why we recommend 'pointing'. Details are available in the FAQ.
