Hi Rob,

You can show your site to others on an iPad, but I'm afraid they won't see it as intended, due to Apple not allowing Flash player on the device. Instead, we make an HTML version available that at least shows the content you have on it.

I have 3 RSS feeds coming in to my site "News" page, using the RSS Feed boxes. NonASCII characters (such as apostrophes) are not being rendered correctly in any of the feeds - one if from the BBC - and I cannot find any solutions, searching Moonfruit Lounge! Is there anything I can do to correct this problem?

can we please have more drop down menus, for example I am putting a list of taxi services on my page and I want the audience to have a drop down menu where they can select which local area they want to search for. I would love to see 2 small changes, well I think they are small.

1. Can we group items together so we can cut and paste and move in one go without having to select each item.

2. When I have more than 1 item selected, I can send to back, I have to send to back 1 item at a time.

Thanks, yes it is something we have considered but at present we are focussing on features we think would provide a bigger impact across the largest number of users. If we can find a simply solution to offering a spell checker then we'll certainly consider it.

Changing templates on the fly is not a simply thing though many people would assume it was. The templates come with specific pages, offering a given menu style, font and structure. Changing one can often break other elements. But again, it is something we are working on so that little or nothing is lost when major changes are made.

Since the upgrade we now have an intermittent problem across numerous clients who can suddenly not download any of our documents from our website.

Instead in IE6,7&8 we get a download error message:

Download Error!

An error has occured attempting to download this file. (ufnotinc)

To try to download this file again, click here to go to the site

Bizzarely it seems to work fine on Google Chrome. I have put a ticket but have been going round in circles.

Hang on hang on hang on Moonfruit. Whoa, hey, stop right there. You had a 'blog' widget at least two versions ago. It's not something "in the pipeline", or shouldn't be. For ages it was there but I didn't have any use for it, then when SiteMaker 4.0 came along there was a section I wanted on one of my sites that I wanted in Blog format, and found that the Blog widget had disappeared. There WAS one there before. Why is this being touted as a great new improvement? It was there, then you took it away. Now the great promise is restoring something that only appears to be new because you took it away again.

Your screenshots show the nice cheery helpful 'ribbon' icons. Since the relaunch MY copy of the "environment" doesn't have those (which was a mild annoyance but nothing major). What gives?

As for Facebook, as said in the other thread (why are there two threads about the same topic - i.e. Release of 5.0?) I don't WANT ANY Facebook integration of my site. Please give the option to turn it off. I didn't, as far as I'm aware, agree to any such Terms and Conditions when I signed up to Moonfruit ooooh... many more years ago now than I can remember... let's see.... 2002? A loyal customer turned away by being forced to work in a framework that only NEWER users want. I preferred the Moonfruit blog and forum formats, and let's face it - all Facebook is is a type of Blog. I don't see what's so innovative about it. Moonfruit is Moonfruit - Facebook is Facebook - why does one have to "follow" the other (oh sorry, that'll be the twitter element again).

I have Flash 10.1, 256Mb RAM, ATi Radeon Hypermemory Graphics Acceleration, and an Intel Pentium 2 Duo dual-core processor, yet the new interface slams my CPU and HDDs down to nothingness. Years ago I was editing Moonfruit sites at lightning speed on PCs far less equipped. What do I need now? Windows 7? 1Tb RAM? Double-headed Graphics card? Triple-core processor? PLEASE, PLEASE stop this needless "development". I could probably be told I should have seen these changes coming - oh yes, if I had the time on my hands to read pages and pages and pages of "Moonfruit Lounge" pages, but I don't. I spend most of my time working for a living and occasionally, as time and energy permit, spend time on my leisure pursuits, which sometimes, but not all the time, can include working on my home PC, a subset of that time being spent updating my Moonfruit sites. I don't have the rest of my life to spend checking to see discussion over another 250 "tweaks" that are planned for sometime next year or that now are in a few months or that may be tomorrow. I don't have TIME to keep track of these whims - I think Moonfruit was better when it was being managed by people with less of a "knee-jerk" reaction type of mentality, and wanted to keep Moonfruit separate, unique, and uniquely USABLE. If someone wants everything to go through Facebook, why not just write all the content they would otherwise put on their Moonfruit site on a huge great Facebook page instead, with all their friends-of-friends-of-friends-of-freind's comments inserted, indented, in-between every new paragraph (naturally, the latest added paragraph always appearing at the top regardless of context). Oh of course, that wouldn't make sense. Hmmmm, yet that's the major controlling force behind the new "development framework".

Hi guys. I use a ton of the HTML snippets for displaying rss feeds that i've created using feedburner. But IE6 does not display these at all and many of pages end up looking blank. take a look at the Season Tickets Classifieds page using ie6 and you'll see (or NOT see) the RSS feed of Season Ticket sales RSS from Craigslist.

Is there a work-around/fix for this?

Hi Zak,

The plan for the improved HTML versions is to generate the CSS based on the design choices within the site itself. At this stage we're not planning to give separate CSS control for the HTML versions. However, this is a long term project which will go through many iterations, so we may provide that in the future. The immediate priority is to get a mobile optimised version that displays the content in a suitable format for small screens. We'll then add further features after that. I hope that helps,

Okay now: - 'Select All' works.
All my Scribd docs are 'Private' and all have gone in as such prev'ly. Notwithstanding, I loaded one up as Public, used Select all, embeded, - Preview still doesn't work, (not on any embeded doc,) - , saved; came out of Editor to look, - it was there.
I then repeated this with the previous Private version, replacing the Public version. - It also worked, (but still no preview.)
Maybe the principle problem was because the highlight drag didn't work and some trace remained, (-?) OR you've improved something since Friday. BUT why doesn't Preview button work? It doesn't go green after Apply is clicked, - it used to, I believe.

For now to select all of the text within the editor box please right click and then choose 'Select all'. We will investigate to see if there have been any changes in the new release.

We've checked your codes and it looks like that the documents that they link to are set to private at Scribd's end, but we cannot view the settings. Can you confirm this for me? We haven't received any other complaints regarding the 'HTML Snippet Widget' so this is most likely to be the cause.

I also got the same problem as isaac it takes around 10 minutes for the site when fully loaded ot go from grey to blue so i can start editing. Only happens on this site when i login on another account loads fine.

Firstly thank you for the amazing upgrade and new features, etc.

I wanted to ask, what triggered the last updated feature to refer to the 14th, day of update, when the actual site hadn't been updated by the webmaster?

Is is possible to know what part of the upgrade would trigger a new date for last updated date...

As I've not updated 3 of the sites in one account for several weeks, yet one now says lasted updated 14th July... So this could only have been triggered from the day of upgrade, just wondered why and how.

No, its reading Deleted (correctly) because I took the old table off Scribd site before I uploaded my revised table, which now wont go on. To test that the fault wasn't with the new embed code from Scribd I tried putting a duplicate table (ie first on that same page, majors,) -It wouldn't go either, so it a Moonfruit issue. To repeat, also, the editor box doesn't highlight all, only the chara's in the window. The preview button doesn't 'green' after Apply. I also notice that If I try to preview other inserted Scribd table they dont now show, - just blank like I get when I've tried to insert my new table, - nothing at Preview.

I've just checked the blog widget today. Is this the new widget announced as a part of this release?

If it is, I think it's quite poor and almost incomparable to "real" blog providers. It's at a stage where it's not advantageous to create your blog at Moonfruit, which I personally think is a shame.

I've been using Moonfruit for a couple of years now and I'm very happy with this CMS. It's the best I've ever tried, but I really hope you'd put just a little more effort into the blog widget.

Also, as you maybe noticed, I'm not english, I'm from Denmark and I create almost every site in danish because the Moonfruit system allows me to. But the Blog can't be created in danish, as far as I know, because of the standard buttons and text, which cannot be edited. I do not wish to publish a site, or a blog, where half is danish and the other half is english.

And one question more, will the text in the blog get indexed on search engines?

Thanks for a great service, and I've noticed the progress Moonfruit has gone through lately, it's good to see that :-)

I'm having big problems editing my site since Wednesday - it takes ages to load and most of the tools in the insert menus are missing. Also, when trying the 'view my site' button the site freezes.
Also noticed that login details show as null.

I use computers outside of home to edit my sites. I don't have admin. privileges on these so I can't download latest FP. It seems like I can still edit my moonfruit site without it. My question is will I be able to do it in the future or you will set it up so editing can't be done without 10.1 FP?
I am fine with old editing tools so latest update will not be neccessary for me.

@Oakmet - the message I see in that HTML snippet is 'error - document deleted by user' which is not coming from us. It looks like it's coming from the site that the HTML is being loaded from, which suggests its working at our end, but not loading the content from the HTML source. Does that help?

I'm using IE v7 and I've updated the flash player that was prompted on the site yesterday, - v10.1 was it? (and tried it again after. Same result, nil.)
The particular page with the table I'm trying to replace with an update, - now blank is ..../Nationals , 2nd Scribd table on that page.

Hi, Walt, no this is not the issue. The multiple sites are different versions of sites in development, or backups.

Please look at my list of sites. The second one (starts with babington). I am absolutely certain I did not edit that site at 12:37 am today (I was asleep at the time).

Number 6 in the list (starts with mad).. I have not edited this for at least 2 weeks it was not edited yesterday as the timeline suggests.

I first noticed this yesterday, and my first reaction was to change my password which I did yesterday morning... but it has been happening since then too.

Hi Paul,

1. What version of Flash are you running under Chrome? You will need to update Flash for every browser as it is browser specific not computer specific. Is Chrome set to block cookies or javascript as this will kill the Flash.

2. The HTML version is not meant to represent the site but to assist SEO so the images will be out of sync. The site is not meant to be viewed in HTML. This is one of the things we are working on - as Joe said we have two PHDs working on algorythms - to enable better representation of the Flash in the HTML. But this will take time. As for the Pop-up Gallery, the image is loaded in a widget so it won't be shown as the widget is dynamic and the HTML static.

Our software is Flash based and the HTML we produce will generally only ever be a representation of what is created in the Flash. And while we do work on refactoring the HTML to better represent the sites on screens of varying sizes (including portable devices) the site will still be Flash.

Looks OK to me. The entries match the database. I do notice you have websites with slightly different addresses but identical names e.g. esdirect.sm4.biz and esdirect.t83.net both with the site name ES Direct Ltd. One edited on July 13 and one on July 4. There are several sites like this.

Adding to the comments by Jeg regarding iphones etc,

1. There seems to be a similar issue with google chrome browsers... I can only see the html version of moonfruit sites in the google chrome browser. Is a flash upgrade for google chrome available / Is a resolution likely? Or have I (and many others) just got our settings wrong to view moonfruit sites properly on google chrome browsers?.

2. I have found that if you use images within your site, they appear randomly on the html version.. and make the page look confusing and generally awful. However, if you put the image within a pop-up gallery (even a 1x1 gallery) the image doesn't appear at all - making the html site look much better on mobiles. I am in the prcess of converting my sites in this way to try to improve appearance on mobiles (and google chrome).

Do you know of other tips that might help us improve our moonfruit sites?

This issue will only become more significant, and I am under pressure now to move sites onto a HTML base for this very reason. Please help!

There is something happening with the list of my sites in my account... sites I have not edited for weeks appear at the top of the list, as if they have been accessed today... is this now showing when the site was last accessed by a member, or will this settle down? Form Emails:

Emails are now flowing again from forms. This was unrelated to the release - more down to one big fat juicy email clogging the whole server. This email was dealt with and emails (and those backlogged by the blockage) are flowing again.

Hi Chris,

OK, we'll have a look for you and see what we can do. But can you name the image as we've removed the background image and we can log in. I would say a lot of your images are little big i.e. over 200kb in size which may slow down the page/site load.

If you can tell us which image if another one is causing an issue we'll see what we can do. Also can you confirm what browsers and version you are checking with and what Flash version for each browser (on each PC).

Follow-up from yesterday's missing images.... our instructors use the site everyday, and I am confident this issue occurred yesterday . Like Justin, these images are in a pop-up gallery - I I didn't think it was possible to have gaps like this in pop-up galleries?

I noticed another problem occur in the few days before the release - & " characters in headings appearing as their html codes ( &amp "quot etc) I fixed them a couple of times. Is this related to this release?

For all of you who are having problems with the Google AdSense Adverts overlapping we have a work around if you wish to apply it.

While we work on fixing this bug you may wish to consider this if you have few sites or sites with a small number of pages. The problem occurs on those pages where the page length differs from the site length. Where the page length is identical to the site length there is no problem.

For some customers this work around could be problematic especially those with a large number of sites or a small number but with many pages. I would stress though that we are working on a fix for this bug as quickly as we can - it has our highest priority.

Tried to replace one of my SCribd insert tables with a revised page: 2 problems, a) the highlight of the old HTML snippet wont hold to hightlight it all and delete, only the chara's in the window; b) the new snippet doesn't work, ie nothing shows for Preview or when site viewed. Help !

I can view my website but I can't log in. It crashes when I try. I've tried it from numerous PC's. I accidently changed the background image to a large picture, now it won't open!!

Hi Tony,

Sorry do you mean the HTML Snippet widget? If so that is due to the HTML snippet widget floating above the site. This has been the case since inception and there is nothing we can do to change the behaviour of this particular technology (use of Wmode).

The only thing that is possible is to resize the HTML Snippet widget so that it allows menu elements and login widgets to clear it or be accessible.

If that isn't what you mean then give us a few more details and an example and we'll do our best to assist.

***UPDATE:

We have just released a bunch of patches for a number of known bugs.

1. Google Analytics code can be re-added
2. AdSense Customisation can now be carried out through the Services panel
3. Pop-up Gallery no longer forces a minimum 3 x 4 matrix - e.g. 1 x 3 now possible again
4. Playlists have been restored to the Jukebox
5. Websites with Gradient Effect HTML background no longer break the edit environment

And several other less critical bugs that have been mopped up along the way.

What we are still working on but will not be pushed out until tomorrow is the issue of AdSense vertical adverts overlapping the site. At present we recommend disabling the offending advert until it is fixed tomorrow.

Thanks for your feedback today and your patience. This has been a very big release for us as it has seen some huge underlaying changes to the code, format and infrastructure and it's been underway for over 6 months. And despite the bugs highlighted above we are really looking forward to cracking on with some really juicy features that we know you'll find as exciting as we do.

The page is 'instructors'... you will see the 4 gaps. I believe the file names were victoriaF.gif, DonnaF.gif, Chris.jpg, JoseF.gif.
Also I made a copy of this website on 19th March, and I just checked - the same 4 images have disappear from that copy - it is in my list of sites with 19/03/10 Copy in the site name.

I was totally horrified when loading my page the other day to find the "POP-UP GALLERY" now only works in a minimum of 3 rows. Before your could run the gallery in 1 row.. WHY THE CHANGE??.. in doing this Site Maker have completely ruined a major selling point to my potential clients. Please restore the POP-UP GALLERY so you can choose 1 row. I don't understand why this important feature had to change and feel absolutely frustrated having spent month design my site and lose all my data.

This is what I found.. I have certain pages hidden from public view - the menu buttons only visible to members once they have logged in. One of the menu buttons that is normally hidden was showing.
After investigating this, I now don't think it is membership related - this particular page is open to everyone, but the page was hidden from the menu - the tick "hide page in menu" had become unticked.

I'm guessing you have Firefox 3.6. There is a bug we've found and it is currently being worked on with a released fixed due out very soon.

You could try another browser, IE, or downgrade Firefox (remove and re-install 3.5) until we have the bug fixed.

I am having a problem with the html snippet - I created a paypal add to cart button in paypal so I could utilize their options of drop down menus, and form input text boxes, etc..and works fine...the only problem - which is kind of a big one is that the "continue shopping" button in the paypal shopping cart is reading the html snippet as its own page and thus when clicked takes you back to a page with only the "Add to Cart" button. It doesn't take you back to the moonfruit website page in which you had come from...is there a way to fix this?

Hi Faddy,

At present that isn't possible. You can at present only copy whole sites. It also sounds like you are trying to copy the template for one site and insert that template as one page into another. A template is global for a site. That is menu, background, layout is set for an entire site.

Hello,
I have been using the html snippet (beta) prior to the new release and managed to embed a few swf files through coding that reads the file from my google site.

Since the new release the embedded swf file does not seem to work anymore and instead shows a white box. The funny thing is that when i sign in my google site, then the swf file will show in moonfruit! This definately did not happen before the release and now i cannot show any swf files. Do you have any idea why this is happening?

can someone tell me if with this new release and the ability now to copy whole sites, is it possible to copy only a single page from one site and transfer it to another site.

Noticed another strange bug with the beta release. In the page settings side bar, when you have a page that's hidden from the menu, but you still want it in your sitemap, you click and "Include this page in my Site Map" gets a tick. Move away from the page, and back again, and the tick's disappeared, although if you check this setting in the old advanced view it still shows that you've elected to include the page. This makes it impossible to know from the beta view if the page is or isn't included!

Hi Dan,

When the user doesn't have Flash 10, there is a link to download it at the bottom of the page where the content has been repositioned. Penetration is roughly 88% at the moment and rising 5% ish per month, so it shouldn't be too long before this is at the 98% level like most Flash. I hope that helps,

Hey, with the html widget becoming one of the best parts of the new release and the only way to do any e-commerce, is there any way of mandating only computers with flash 10 from getting to the website, maybe having a separate landing page for those who don't have it, or linking them directly to adobe for the download? I really can't run my business reliably through moonfruit without a feature like this, at least until you guys get the new ecommerce updates up. Thanks :)

I installed the new toolbar (which is lovely) but need to maintain the site from a number of points which do not have Flash 10 installed. Is there a way of editing the site using the older toolbar on these systems? Once I've logged in it seems always to want to show me the new menu.

I cant find the Copy/Transfer site buttons in my Admin section? I've looked in all the subpages to see if it's hidden anywhere but cant see it.

Also while I'm here can I just ask if there are going to be any new calendars released soon? In the forum there a lot of topics about it as the current one is VERY limited but no responses..

Have to say Moonfruit is amazing. Im really enjoying playing about with it and its a lot more in-depth than I'd hoped before I bought the package.

I normally use firefox, but just out of curiousity I went on Internet Explorer version 8, and noticed to my dismay that the html widgets appeared off page, just like they used to do on firefox before it was fixed.
I don't know if its just my pc which has not been set up correctly for V8 or whether its a universal problem. Can you test it for me Joe.

Yes thats right - the links tab in the editor. When you go to link to a page the drop down menu is very small (shows 4 pages at a view). Have around 300 pages on my site and many pages have to link to pages old or new.
Only a minor moan but what you've done with the other drop downs is so much clearer.

Hi Joe

I’m still getting used to the new interface, not sure if I prefer it yet ‘old dog, new tricks’ etc. I’ve two points for you:

a) Don’t know if this is just me but when I use the zoom to see the whole of a long page and then try to move things about and resize objects they look at OK in zoom but when I return to 100% the objects are not where I had put them when zoomed out. Zoom would be great for re-organising long pages however the feature fairly useless for this purpose so far I have found.

b) A point of SEO. The ‘Site Information’ panel lets you add a ‘Site name’ and ‘Site description’ for the whole site. This is fine I guess if you don’t want to put page specific metadata into every page. The problem is that ‘Site Information’ gets indexed by the search engines against the home page [ eg. www.website.com ]. This means that the meta data that one enters onto a home page only gets indexed against the address with /home [eg. www.website.com/home/123456789 ]. This would be manageable however the ‘Site name’ only allows 50 characters. As the home page [ www.website.com ] is the one that always appears highest in the search engines it means this is very limiting trying to get a name and key-phrases into this all important space. Hope that makes sense – essentially if you could either increase the characters allowed for a ‘site name’ or just use the meta data from the home page as ‘site information’ this would solve this issue.

So glad the html widget is now more bullet proof – top work.

One minor gripe - wish you'd done something similar to the editor to make its menu drop downs bigger. With a multi page site lninking pages can be really time consuming.

" make widget" or ' widgetmaker" button: the admin can design a minisite or widget using all the function in control panel as a widgetmaker, after the design is finished click in the "make widget button" and set up your gigya account integration. the new widget can be saved and used in other sites with the share button.

Hi, the comment form doesnt seem to resize shorter than 320 pixels vertically It is fine to make narrower (horizontally) but for some reason even when I change the height pixels to 200, it defaults to 320. Is this a bug?

On the FF missing cursor, you probably already knew this, but when you're editing things like the metatags box in the left-hand margin the cursor works normally. It's only when editing boxes on the actual site page that it disappears!

Hi Dani,

The white flash is caused by the background of your site being white. On the homepage you load a full screen image over the top of it (house image) which covers it up. But sometimes things load in different orders so you sometimes see the background 'flash' before the image covers it.

I see that you use the white background on your other pages as you have black text, so you can't change the colour.

However, there is a way round this. If you set your background to black (like the HTML colour) in the 'design' 'background' section this will stop the flash as it won't be there. You will then need to go into your page master (design, page master) and insert a white square onto your page and resize it to cover the whole site.

This way on any normal page where you need to show black text on white, the page master will be white, and on any page where you don't want to show the white you can set the page to 'hide page master' (in page settings).

I don't believe anything has changed in the release that would have affected all this, so it is likely that this has always happened. I hope that helps,

I absolutely LOVE this new interface - it's so much more user-friendly and I can see things so much better. The zoom is great, the left hand side information is great - the individual page length is brilliant! Just what I needed!

One thing: please please please... are you working on something to help me sell mp3 audio zip files and downloads online securely (with paypal as the ecommerce aspect still)?

It's fine for me to sell CDs, but so many people want downloads now, I'm losing custom as long as I can't offer this to them.. Any plans?

I was updating the website whilst in Crete (very nice) and the internet connection kept dropping - the Welcome page seemed to blank out at this time. The work I was doing was loading pictures onto a slide show (Portraits / Party Portraits)

Should I be backing the site up somehow in case this kind of thing happens again?

I was really desperate to get it back again, as the pics I loaded were about to be viewed by a bunch of parents - so I am REALLY grateful for your help.

How often to we ask for help from a service provider and actually get it? Not only did you come to my rescue, you were amazingly prompt and I'm very grateful to you. We can really only measure customer service when something goes wrong - and Moonfruit has come up trumps!

Yes google have stopped supporting the API we were using for the maps. We may need to redevelop the widget to fix this so it won't be quick.

But in the meantime you can use the HTML widget and get your link code from maps.google.com. Do your search, then get the HTML from the 'link' option in the top right of the screen on google.

This alert is caused when the Javascript has been cached by your browser and is out of sync with the application files. If you clear your cache it should work again.

Re the logging in issue, it sounds like you're logging in as a member of your site, not the site leader, which is the only reason the top bar would not load (member edit mode does not show the topbar). If you can submit a support ticket we can investigate further. Thanks,

Having lots of problems with Firefox (latest release) and new MF build. Lots of "caching problems" alerts from FF and when I log in to my site it either doesn't recognise my login deets or logs me in but to old edit enviroment without top toolbar.

It looks like the button once clicked is trying to load the page into the frame on your moonfruit site. Are there any settings when generating the button about opening in the same window or new window? You may want to try experimenting with that and it may work.

Here we are again. HTML snippet is not beta anymore but after pasting my pay pal button it still doesn't work. I pasted my paypal button on a different web site that I have with webs.com and it works just fine. Moonfruit displays the button but once you click on it it gives you an error. Button is on the registration page of my above displayed site. Aside from that I can't logg out of the editor , I click logg out but nothing happens. I just started exploring the new tool bar hopping it will improve the moonfruit but so far not too impressed.

We're still investigating the FF cursor issue as we're not sure what is causing it. Seems to be only FF on PC and may be something to do with their updates. We'll let you know when we know more.

Re the edit boxes, I guess it partly depends on how big your screen is. You can also use the zoom out feature if you want to create more space to move the panels, though it will make the site smaller.

Any idea when the FF cursor bug will be fixed? Sorry to concentrate on the thing that isn't working when so much good stuff is (!) but I've had to change back to the advanced menu view for the moment as editing dialog boxes with no idea where the cursor is is no fun at all! I've also noted that although things like the edit dialog box can now float outside the page margins, they can't float over the whole screen which makes this not as useful an innovation as it might have been.

Yes that does make sense when thinking about it, as some people would want more than one open at a time on the pages panel and each of the accordian menus is probably the same component with a different instance name, so i understand that to get it working would be difficult.

And i do agree with you with the scroll bar, that would not be the best solution and im glad you guys chose to ditch it :).

Im sure the Dev team will come up with something as they always seem to come up with some really good little widgets and additions to the software.

Hi Scott,

Yes this is something we've been thinking about. The problem with only one open is that in some cases you may want to see more than one at once (e.g. pages panel). It's very hard to intelligently close some but not all panels on clicks as we'd need to know which ones are more 'important', and know the screen resolution and browser size of the editor so know the 'visible' space.

We could (and have tried) a scroll bar on the left hand menu, but it looks very ugly. So for the moment we've left it so that the user can decide which ones are open and which ones are shut and manage this themselves.

If we can think of a clever solution we'll do it. Does that make sense?

The side accordian menus, currently you can open all of them at once and on certain tabs (insert) they do go off screen, maybe you can code it that only one can open at a time, sure this is only a little thing, but it would be alot better for developers and users like my self.

Thanks :-). You can't add the content outside the margins, just see it there in edit mode if you want to use the whole workspace. If you want to make your site wider/longer you can do so in the 'design' section with 'site size'. I hope that helps,

Nothing we've released will have affected google rankings or listings. Our changes went live 10am BST (today), so anything happening before that will not have been caused by the release.

Also no part of the release will have affected the way google sees or treats the sites.

And your site semi-permanent-make-up is still listed by google. Type site:www.semi-permanent-make-up.co.uk into google and you'll see the 414 pages it has listed.

Moonfruit just gets better, I was just reading through your amazing updates and I was very excited, but as I was reading my partner gave me some horrific news...

Dozens of my webstes have been Slapped off the face of Google, overnight.

Has this got anything to do with the Moonfruit update?

Hi David, you can't add code, HTML or otherwise to text boxes but this shouldn't stop you linking to another site. The text you can simply add to a text box on a page. The link e.g. a web site address, would need to be copied from the supplied text/code i.e. just the www.sitename.com and added using the link option in the Editor.

In other words, add the text to the text box, highlight a section of text that will be linked to the external website, click on the Link tab in the Editor, select the URL (web address) icon and then paste in the web address you have been supplied with.

i get people send me links to their sites and these are in text and code which i beleive you paste on your site some where. unlike the banner links which ive got on the abobe site. can you throw some light on this.

Andy, thanks for the comments. As for your wishing for an 'global' File Manager, sadly that won't make headlines next release. As each website has its own little slice of the database getting the File Manager to upload to multiple sites within an account would be a very big job.

And as for using plain English, we use terms well used in the web industry and, for our own benefit (so WE know what we're talking about), we make do make some names up. After all, you can't have software development and not have the odd bit of jargon! But while you may find we give a feature or widget an 'odd' name we will do our best in putting more time into describing what it does and how you can benefit from it. But point taken. And thanks again.

FANTASTIC yes I am shouting it out well done Moonfruit it all just gets better and better but I am glad the price does not go up and up with all the improvments and what is this

File Manager changes ?? coming soon mmm could it be 1 file manager to use on all of your websites ? would be wicked if it was !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just 1 little snag please use plain English when describing some products these codes and short names you use can be a bit hard to understand what they mean

Hi Jeff,

If your Subjects are set to "Guests can View", then the subject title and description (or notes) will display if you publish that page for viewing in HTML (Log in > Edit > Page Settings > View HTML version). This is what the search engines will read.

That page will also offer links (to all viewable posts for each subject) using RSS feeds where the posts can be read by clicking the links on that page. The search engines should follow the links and spider the content on those posts, if they are marked public ( i.e. guests are allowed to view the posts and not just members.)

As to how deep search engines will go to read content, they are restricted to RSS providing a limit of 50 feeds which generally show the most recent feeds.

Another thing to note is that this only applies to the new (themable) forum. It doesn't apply if you have an old forum on your site.

This is alot of work you've done this round. excellent !!
The Header Tag situation is yet another seo-benefit many aren't aware of but having control over these areas is just really really good.

The helper showhome pages can even be used to show clients things that can be done.

Question?

Does all of the text inside the FORUM show in HTML. Can the search engines see all the content in the posts... no matter how deep it gets?
