Ooooo the good stuff is nearly there...

I've been testing the new forum and multiple select features, and I must say, I'm pretty excited. The forum is going to be a really powerful new tool, and will finally allow you to manage large discussions and deep content message boards on SiteMaker. And the multiple select, well it just feels right. Much easier to move things around, nudge them, drag them, delete them and copy and paste them between pages.
Should be with you in 2 weeks or so. Nice.

Good to hear this, thanks Joe, will there be other new stuff than the new forum and the multiple select like the news blog for example?
Cheers,
hey Joe..this is the first time i check out moonfruit.com and to be honest i like it a lot. the forum is a good addition too.
looking forward to getting a site here
take care
All in good time Atlas ;-) there will be a new blog, but it's not in development yet. We'll let you know when it is. Joe
hi , i'm very exited of moonfriut but there are no any programs to play music and videos it's very nessaery for the users
Hoping that it is as clean as this blog - enjoy the RSS and layout on this template and hoping that this is a sign of what is to come.
Very excited about this!
Hi Mido, we do have the 'jukebox' tool and the 'video player' in the library that make it easy to add MP3s and videos from Youtube or Google Video (and more). Or do you mean something else?
Joe
Joe, will you be able to move over posts from an existing forum over to the new forum, ie. just update your existing forum to the new design.
If this wont be a feature would it be possible to make it one!
Thanks.
Will the forum be php/html or flash based?
Hi Joe,
I recently tried out your new Comments widget on my Louise site (http://www.louise-redknapp.co.uk) and I was wondering... in my personal site (http://www.phili.co.uk), I use the Directory widget as my Guestbook, but I figured out that the Comments widget seems to fit better. Is it possible to transfer entries over to the Comments widget? Or, should I just wait for the updated Directory widget? Can you have a look and give me your suggestion? I think the current Guestbook is the only thing that sticks out like a sore thumb... Thanks;)
Hi Joe!
I was just about to ask for something in relation to your 'multiple select' feature via the Wish List. What I want to know is this .... Is it going to be possible to 'insert' space for new page text, etc., by clicking on the page (say in the middle), and MOVING DOWN all that's below where I've 'clicked', that below including combinations of text boxes, tables, pictures, etc.? In that way creating space, say, half way down my page, where I can then add in pictures, text, etc.. Do you get my meaning?
This would be an essential tool for me as I incorporate more information to each of my website pages. That information being often required to be added half way down the page.
Hi Kekefan, it should be possible to move posts, though we will have to do this for you via customer support. We'll give you details once it's live.
Conor, it will be a Flash forum so that it fully integrates with the rest of your site. However the functionality has been modeled on things like bbforums, so you should find it does everything that you need.
Phil, you're right the comments widget does make a better guestbook, and this was part of the reason we designed it that way. I'm afraid there is no way to import the data from the directory to the comment, you may have to input it manually.
Lavendar, you can move everything down the page by multiple selecting it first then using the keyboard or mouse to reposition it, but you won't be able to do a one click 'insert space' as you describe. We may add 'grouping' functionality later, which would mean you can keep all your items grouped, making it easier to move them down, but this won't be in the first release.
Joe
SWEET!!! I can't wait. Nice work guys...
Hi Joe,
Will this new forum have the usual login/membership form that has the Sitemaker Terms and Conditions etc. or will there be a new one for joining our site only and not having to register with Sitemaker?
Would be great if Moonfruit could work on a new login tool without our members having to join Sitemaker as well.
Thanks
Hi Belfast, yes that's a change we're working on. It should allow all sites to have their own membership without having to be part of SiteMaker, but it'll be a few months before that's out. Thanks, Joe

Thanks Joe. I hope that this will be possible soon, as my page set up has become quite complicated, ands I have many pages. All of my tables, text, pictures, gifs, etc., have precise numerical positions and sizes, so to move them together, complete with included text, would be the best way for me. I'd like, also, to be able to do this with Pagemaster as well as by individual page. Thanks for responding.
cant wait till all this new stuff comes out ... been waiting for months for something like this .... how many more days we gotta wait?? I cant take it any more lol
Two weeks today...
It's close!
Hey, was'nt that originally posted on 1st Oct and so two weeks is now due? or was that updated recently?? Waiting in anticipation!!!
Should be this week Phil, just final testing now....
Joe
sweet
Guys, just so you know, we've missed our release window this week, so it'll go out next week. We try to avoid releasing things on Friday as if there are bugs they'll only turn up Saturday and we won't be able to fix them until the following week. Have a good weekend, Joe
Thanks for the info Joe.
Yea, no problem. I'd prefer to have it all functioning nicely than have to deal with bugs etc..
Thanks for the info Joe, nice to be kept in the know rather than waitin in anticipation for the next release..
Lookin forward to the release guys,
Take care
Hi Joe
When will the new tools and features be released ??
Scott
Before Friday, I'm presuming...
;)
Before Friday you presume?
That was said last week... then it was said it was too late for Friday... it's been 2 months since anything new appeared... some new stuff and updates are well overdue... can someone get some skates on and produce something soon... thanks, jeff
Joe explained above that they prefered to release a forum that was bug free, rather than release last week, and be unable to iron out any problems at the weekend.
Patience is a virtue.
Patience is a Virtue... correct... the trouble is that there has been to many things that have happened or didn't happen with the service this year causing a lot of problems and a lot of income for us, the customers, therfeore patience gets a little bit strained.
I agree that the release shouldn't have gone out last friday in case there was a bug (which is nothing new anyway) however it is now Tuesday and this friday is getting nearer and i was merely following up as to what is happening.
Perhaps you should keep your sarcastic remarks ( patience is a virtue ) to yourself and not be so damm rude to people.
I wasnt being rude, and I meant it sincerely...
We are all in the same boat. I need to transfer a lot of information over from my old forum (not moonfruit one), to the new ones we are going to get. I cant do anything until that information is there.
I've been using moonfruit since 2001, and I dont recall getting as many updates, as we do now, back then. I think we are lucky that these guys are working at keeping Moonfruit fresh and relevent in the quickly changing world of the internet.
I personally think it "Damn rude" to keep on asking, when it'll obviously be ready when its ready...
;)
It's my perogative to ask what i want and when i want to moonfruit... without outside interferrance... my message on here was to moonfruit.. not to you... therfore i didn't want a response from something that had nothing to do with you.
thanks, jeff
If you didnt want a response from something that didnt have anything to do with me, why did you reply to my post in the first instance?
Just wondering, like.
wow a moonfruit fight haha
anyway i think jeff has a right to ask, as joe stated that it will the new updates would come out early this week ... so anticipation is high for some
I said next week, not early next week ;-)
It's always a tough one to work out how much to communicate and when. We don't want to keep you in the dark about what we're doing, but as soon as we tell you about it we set expectations that we can't always meet.
The problem with this release is that it has some quite fundamental changes, which means we have to be very careful about how and when it goes out. We try to do releases Weds or Thursday, to avoid being too close to the weekend, but if last minute bugs show up, we often have to bump it. It's still looking good for this week, so fingers crossed.
Jeff, I understand your frustration and believe me we'd like things sooner rather than later too, but sometimes, particularly in a live software system with nearly 100,000 users delays do occur. We're constantly working to produce new features, improve our internal processes and hire new people as we grow. Believe me, we're going as fast as we can ;-)
And Kris, thanks for coming to our defence! You seem like a very reasonable guy ;-)
Joe
I am so excited about this and I also cant wait, so to you guys above, turn your anger into excitment, its something to look forward to, moonfruit didnt have to tell us about this until it was going live, but they did because they like to keep us informed, so stop been petty and leave moonfruit to do there job and get it right, as this will benefit us, in the long run!
