Free domain name vouchers for all existing customers **

As promised we have now issued a domain voucher to all existing SiteMaker customers whether you pay monthly or annually. When we launched our new domain service in May, customers that pay monthly were credited on their next payment (i.e. within the first month). Annual customers had to wait until now. We delayed the issue of vouchers to annual customers so we could control the volume flowing through our system, as there were many thousands of domain vouchers to give away.
So thanks for your patience and you can now redeem your voucher for a free domain name though moonfruit.com!!
As a reminder for those who haven't used their voucher yet, and those who have just got one, it's very easy to do:
- First go to www.moonfruit.com/domains.html
- Then search for the domain of your choice
- Once you've found one you're happy with, use the check box to select it and choose the period you want it for (1 year, 2 years, etc.), and click 'Next'.
- Login (if you haven't done so already) - but make sure you login with your existing SiteMaker username, don't create a new one
- Enter your personal details (the domain registry needs this to accept your domain registration)
- Check that your order details are correct and ensure the 'Use my voucher' check box is ticked (domain vouchers can be redeemed against 1 year registrations for all domains except co.uk and org.uk, where they are valid and can be redeemed against the 2 year registrations).
- Double check that your domain name is spelt correctly - if you get it wrong you cannot change it - as once you've bought it, it's yours as is!
- Agree terms and conditions and click 'Continue to checkout'
- And that's it.
Your domain will now be processed and once it is ready to use you can click on the 'Manage' tab on the domains page (www.moonfruit.com/domains.html). There you will see a list of your domains. Click the 'Manage' link in the bottom right corner of the domain you want to configure. You will now see a drop down list of all of your sites, from where you can pick which site to assign this domain to. This automatically points your new domain to your existing website and shouldn't take longer than an hour or two before your domain is ready to use i.e. it will display your website.
From sometime next month (July) we will also be releasing the email features, allowing you to setup and manage email mailboxes on your domain name. There will be a webmail interface, as well as POP or IMAP access if you prefer.

Hello ... just quickly ... I still dont get this whole domain name vouchers .... do we get a domain for free?? or discount on one??? In addition, i think the domains you offer are very high in price.
Second ... with the e-mail ... if we already got a domain set up ... would we be able to use the new e-mail features you talk about?? Would i be able to set an e-mail up with it ... or use the webmail interface ... maybe even with an already established e-mail??

More good news. My domain is registered at FreeParking. Haven't seen my voucher yet but can I use this against a transfer? Cheers, John
Hi John, we haven't enabled the transfer functionality yet (we're working on it), but once we do release it (probably July/August) you will be able to use your voucher to complete the transfer to us. Thanks, Joe
Hi Toni, the voucher can be used to redeem against the value of a purchase. This value is equal to 1 domain name year, e.g. a .com for 1 year (or in the special case of a .co.uk, 1 .co.uk for 2 years, as this is the minimum period). So if you want a domain for longer, or more than one, you'll have to pay for them separately.
I'm sorry you feel our domains are expensive, but we did some market research to set the price competitively. Remember our prices also include VAT, so some providers only add VAT to the price at the end, e.g. you think it costs 8.99 but it actually costs 8.99 + VAT. Ours is all included.
Re the email, if you want to use the email that we will offer, then you will have to transfer the domain to us first. We are still working on the transfer features, so this won't be available for another month or so.

Hey guys good to see the domains side, and a quick one to Toni, the domain prices are not high in price at all, they are very good value.. most registrars dont include vat such as Jo said, so i think you should take that back!! One thing i would like to say, moonfruit, please dont start penalising people with domains held at other registrars in anyway, as i have alot of domains at UKreg, and dont want to move them away. Theres no sign that you guys will as you are very customer friendly, i just wanted to highlight this. Still love moonfruit, by far one of the best products around!

Hi, I think you mentioned this above but could you clarify for me? - I have a domain name registered at another site which I would like to transfer to my moonfruit site. Am I right in thinking that this isn't possible at the moment but is going to be possible soon?

I do not get it. Should I need this domain on top of my original domain? If I can get a permission to change my current domain from Gandi to this free domain offer, Please let me know.

Hi Neil, if you have purchased a domain name through another provider, we won't for the minute be able to transfer it in to our service. We are currently working on this and hope to offer the transfer in shortly.
Paul, domain vouchers are added to your account. If you log in through the portal e.g. Moonfruit, you will see a domains section which should list your free voucher, depending on the package you have i.e. from Standard up.
Hi Peacemaker, you don't get a domain, but you do get a voucher to buy one. You certainly don't need it, but it is there if you wish to use it. Vouchers currently apply to purchase of new domains. But if you have any further queries please contact us using the query form on the support pages and give us more details about your account so that we get a clearer picture of your request.
Allessan, as above just log in through the portal and check the domains section, you should see a voucher in there. If you haven't then please submit a support query, give us details about your account and we can investigate for you. And yes it does depend on the package. Standard and Plus accounts get 1 voucher each, and Max gets two.

Hey Joe, I asked support when I might get a voucher and the answer was I wouldn't as my package doesn't qualify. Looking at your headline though I woukld have said that I am an existing customer? John

Only those customers with Standard packages or above are entitled to a free domain voucher. We do have the details on our pricing page as to who qualifies and what they are entitled to.

I thought I did answer your question. If you go to the Moonfruit home page you will see that our banner clearly states "...with Premium Packs" which is also highlighted, as you would have seen, on the Pricing page.
If you refer to the comments on the blog above then we have added a note to clarify what we had already previously advertised on both the Home and Pricing pages.
We do apologise for any confusion caused by entries in our blog to all paying customers but our policy is that customers on Standard packages and above will get a free domain voucher.
But we thank you for bringing this to our attention John.

I am an existing customer, a year ahead of that posting so was Joe on Jun 12th offering pork pies in the sky? Does he work for you? I know all abou the pricing policy and don't get me wrong, I think Moonfruit is an excellent service and your prices are very fair. But, if there are NOT 'Free domain name vouchers for all existing customers' thern its high time you took down this headline from Forum on the Moon fruit home page and replaced it with one that explains your retreat. I am an existing customer .Joe still says I get a free domain!

When I transfer a .com to moonfruit... and its all set up - what is the email quota for each domain? 5 emails per domain or 10 email?
Is there instructions to set up outlook etc.. ?
also what is the webmail service like?
