Mail maintenance on October 15th, 2008 at 1h00 AM BST (Midnight GMT)
Our domain name partner will be running a major maintenance operation on the Mail platform. This operation will lead to greater stability of the service in the event of an excessive load.
The service will be unavailable during the maintenance period, which will be on Wednesday (October 15th, 2008) between 8:00 PM BST (19:00 GMT) and 1:00 AM BST (23:59 GMT). Incoming mails will be received but you will not be able to access them before we have completed the maintenance work. POP, IMAP, Webmail will all be unavailable.

hi walt, do you know when this maintenance will be finished.
Hi topboymusic,
The maintenance happened on schedule and email was back up as planned early Thursday morning 01:00 BST. I've doubled checked and there were no reported issues following this maintenance from Thursday morning through till Sunday night.
Disaster!
What has happened to Moonfruit.
All the websites (and all mine!!!) seem to have gone.
Has your server crashed?
hi espresso
i also can't access my website and there is no way of contacting support as the main site for sitemaker is also down
normally if there was a server outage this would be posted or listed under scheduled down time stating that all websites would be offline
can't wait to see the forum being jammed with responses to this unprepared outage
at least our webmail is working
what has happened to moonfruit at the moment can not access moonfruit site or our site. anyone else having problems. do we know what is going on?
Hi Gavin
have just found out what is going on apparently a power cut has hit the data center for moonfruit which i guess holds all the website's for us site leaders
you can find out more here http://status.sitemakerlive.com/#ma...
moonfruit are currently investigating the cause of this power cut
Hi Andrew
Thank you for lettting me know that news
Gavin
Moonfruit oh my god! This tops it!
your welcome Gavin
i suggest you forward this message to other site leaders

We appear to have suffered a power cut at our data center.
We are currently investigating and working to restore service.
Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
seems its up and running again
looks like it Gavin
shows how good moonfruit is
yeah it does....going a bit slow though
can't access indvidial sites at the moment
i know
can't wait to see the state of what the forum will be like
when you think of how many sites moonfruit host
yeah i am sure there will be lots of comments
are you getting a white page when you try to access your website
yeah i am getting a white page plus still can not access the moonfruit front page properly. Hope they sort it all out soon. Has this happend before. How long does it last if it does?
i got a white page and then my website came up and then back to white page
as with the main moonfruit site this gave out a server 500 error
it will allow you to see your login account page and thats it
guess it will be touch and go
normally when there is an outage it means maitenence is being carried out and one is able to access their site in this case just keep trying
hi,
my good friend who is a IT guy told me because Moonfruit only has one server address and normally it should be two or more for backups this can be critical if their servers go down and your without a website and thats exactly whats happened today!!! I dont believe it... Have i made a mistake by coming to moonfruit? I still havent got my 5 email boxes yet either..
hi Raz
moonfruit seems to be getting a lot of outages and in the case of today's problem it was down to a power cut at the data center the only thing which seems to be functioning is this site and webmail
as i write this you can now access moonfruit but its still very slow and no news on what caused our sites to down in the first place
Hi Andy,
thanks for the message, does my IT friend have a point?
yes i think your friend does
i am a photographer and don't just rely on moonfruit to show off my work
as with getting outages assuminly moonfruit only has one server i thought it was common practise to have more than one so if one fails there would be a back up server kicking in
Exacly his and my point, its weird unless its one guy running moonfruit from his garden shed!
i think its sorted now people
only time will tell what actually caused the power cut
if moonfruit were actually able to host our websites they would then have to add this as an extra cost. the majority of web hosting companies which i have come across
have back up servers in the event of a service outage
Hi Raz and Andrew,
We're not running Moonfruit on a single server, don't worry about that. Your IT friend may be referring to the single IP address of moonfruit.com and your sites. This IP address is the entrance way to our network. Within out network there are 2 or more machines performing every different process required to run the system, e.g. firewalls, load balancers, webservers, mail servers, disk servers, disk arrays, and database servers.
In the event of a machine failure, the other machines take the load so there is no downtime. In the case where the plug has been pulled on everything, the extra servers don't help.
I hope that makes things a bit clearer and gives you a better understanding of how we support the service. Thanks,
Joe
