.co.uk transfers now available!!

We are very pleased to announce that we have released the changes required that now allow you to transfer your .co.uk domain names to moonfruit! Once your domain is transferred to us, you will benefit from the free email (5 mailboxes and infinite aliases) that other domain customers get. So what are you waiting for?!
Remember .uk domains work slightly differently from other domain names (it's governed by a different organisation), so if you are going to transfer your domain name to us, make sure you follow the instructions below.
To kick off the process with us:
- Go to www.moonfruit.com/domains.html and click on 'Transfer'
- Type in your existing .uk domain name and click 'Submit'
- Next confirm that you are ready to start the transfer and that your domain is unlocked (not blocked for transfer)
- Pay for your transfer
- Contact your existing domain name registrar and ask them to change the 'tag' on your domain to 'GANDI'
It's this last step that can sometimes slow things down. Your existing domain registrar has to change the 'tag' on your domain at their end to your new registrar (which is GANDI, the registrar Moonfruit uses to manage your domain names). Once that's all done it may take a few days to come over to us depending on how quickly your current domain registrar makes these changes. And that's it.
Thank you for your patience while we ironed out these final issues, but it's all ready and waiting for you to start that process. And if you do have any problems please let us know.
Happy transferring!

Thank you - at long last! Great news.
So, if I have (and do have!) a free site hosted with you, transfer in my .co.uk name, I will get free email that will both send & receive email for the domain name?
Hi Airia,
Yes if you transfer your domain over, regardless of the site type you own, you will be entitled to 5 mailboxes which you can access via the web (webmail) or via a client e.g. Outlook.
Thanks
Hi, I have a number of sites built and hosted by Moonfruit. Could you plz tell me how can i assign these Domain Names to sites, not hosted with Moon Fruit.
Thanks
I have just registered a .co.uk with 123 reg -
1 how long before a .co.uk is unlocked for transfer?
2 What charges apply from moonfruit ?
3 how much is renewal? per annum?
Hi Riverdog,
Normally, domains are locked for 60 days. This is an industry standard but best checking with your domain name provider - 123 Reg.
A transfer will cost £8.99.
Renewal will also cost £8.99 but if you transfer after the 60 days then the original expiry date should be honoured and you will not need to renew for a further 10 months.

Hi, I paid for my transfer and have had and email from the sitemaker team saying the transfer is complete. I've told 123-reg that the new "tag" is GANDI and I've also changed the nameservers with them. Still my domain isnt working. Can you check it out for me? its www.andrewwaterhouse.co.uk
Thanks in Advance

My domain now with registrar Gandi is due for for renewal May 2110. Also I hope to transfer to another member of my club as I am leaving.
What will the renewal cost ?
Hi Tom,
If you wish to transfer ownership of a domain then we would have to go through a change of owner process. This you would need to do at least 60 days before expiry date (2010-05-25). To do this you would need to contact Support and have your domain released. You then be able to talk directly to our Domain partner's Gandi and request a change of owner.
At present the renewal fee is £8.99. We do not anticipate increasing this fee any time soon.
