RESOLVED: Service Disruption - Please see entries below for more details on the disruptions and on essential maintenance be carried out...
RESOLVED: Service Disruption 14:34 BST (GMT +1) 04 Apr 2009
DETAIL: On April 4 a section of our system went read-only. This currently affects 20% of our customers and has an impact on file uploads, new site building, form submissions and forum posts. The other 80% of our customers are completely unaffected.
RESPONSE: Our technical team are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
UPDATE: We are working on repairing the file system for the affected customers. Current estimate for completion is 2 - 4 hours.
UPDATE: 13:40 BST - We will be taking the service off-line for 10 minutes at approximately 13:55 to reconfigure the file system as part of our recovery actions.
UPDATE: 14:04 BST - The file system reconfiguration was successful and enabled us to restore full service to half of the affected customers. We expect to restore the service fully to the remaining 10 % of customers (the remaining half affected by this issue) within the next couple of hours.
RESOLVED: 15:02 BST
DETAIL: Full service has now been restored to all customers.
RECOVERY: We failed over to our backup file server and performed consistency checks to ensure that the data was not corrupted.
FOLLOW UP: We will run background consistency checks on all our data over the next few days to ensure that no further problems occur. Visitors may possibly experience slower page loads while these checks take place. We will also conduct an investigation into the cause of this event and take steps to mitigate a repeat of this incident.
RESOLVED: Service Disruption 16:40 BST (GMT +1) 07 Apr 2009
DETAIL: On April 7 a section of our system went read-only. This currently affects only 10% of our customers and has an impact on file uploads, new site building, form submissions and forum posts. The other 90% of our customers are completely unaffected by this event.
RESPONSE: Our technical team are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and should have it resolved shortly.
We apologise for any inconvenience that this causes any of our customers. Updates will follow.
UPDATE: 01:45 BST - All affected systems have now been fully restored. We will continue to monitor the situation and post more details later in the morning.
Essential Maintenance: 11:20 BST (GMT +1) 09 Apr 2009
REASON: Our investigations into the recent service disruptions indicated that by running consistency checks on the affected data, the file system was stabilised. To be certain that the data is secure we will be running consistency checks on the remaining data in a controlled manor.
PLANNED DURATION: 40 minutes per site
NOTES: Those communities not already affected by the recent disruptions will go Read-Only for about 40 minutes. This will only affect file uploads, new site building, forum posts and saving of data. All sites will remain on view to visitors and owners. There will be six periods of 40 minutes during which 10% of sites will be affected.
UPDATE: This has now been completed. The consistency checks have been successful.
Comments
I cannot see how you can say that the problem has been resolved as myself and quite a few others are still having problems.
My account with yourselves is pretty much useless at the moment. I have sent countless queries to yourselves but keep getting told th do the same things which are not helping at all.
I have been chatting to people on Facebook and they all seem to be having the same problems.
We are unable to build a new site.
We are unable to upload any images.
On times I am unable to edit my site at all.
I have been a customer with yourselves for almost 4 years with the full package (£15 per month), and at the moment the whole package is useless to me.
I have the latest Macromedia Flash Player and Internet Explorer 8, my setings too are all correct.
Is there any chance that anyone can help at all?
Hi Steve,
I saw your email from the 7th and we responded immediately with details on how to fix this. This fix worked for all other customers experiencing similar problems and we've not heard of continuing issues. If there are other problems currently, as of today, Wednesday 15th April, then we are not aware.
That said we did have a minor disruption over Easter but these were immediately resolved.
At present we have no outstanding issues and all systems are showing 100%.
You mention just the one site, golden valley community but none of the others in your account, are they editable?
I can see that you last updated your site: Apr 15 2009 4:08AM and last accessed your site: Apr 15 2009 11:47AM.
So can you confirm if you are still having problems with editing this site, and is it just this site?
Thanks
I'm still having major problems trying to upload a menu bar. It's really frustrating...please please could you tell me when this will be resolved roughly?
Hi there,
I am too having the same problem. I can edit one of my sites fine, but the other is a nightmare. I can't add text without it disappearing, I can't save or do anything!!!
Hi Lewis,
The problem you are encountering is completely unrelated to the service disruption, even though another customer had similar problems last week.
We've found your ticket in our support system and will respond shortly. We tested login for your site, grampianwedding.moonfruit.com, in both FF3 and IE7 and in both cases it loaded very quickly. In the meantime you may want to try clearing your cache (Temporary Internet files) which fixes a lot of problems in the browser including slow loading.
You can clear your cache in IE7 by going to the toolbar and using Tools > Browsing History > Temporary Internet Files and using the 'Delete files...' button. This will simply clear out old stored web pages and nothing more. This will then force your browser you reload a fresh version of your site. Try that and see how you get on.
Thanks
Service down on 3rd/ 4th July. No email to explain what happened as yet.
Now I note my site doesnt allow me turn on Private Membership within Settings.
Has Moonfruit removed this option?
Conspiracy?
Also note, all latest comment on this site are not related to that large embarassing outage last night. Does Moonfruit run this site also? Perhaps we need our own discussion forum to chat about the service level etc.
