RESOLVED: Service Distruption 15:30 - 16:20 BST (GMT +1) 15 Oct 2009
By Walt on Thursday, October 15 2009, 15:39 - Service status - Permalink
DETAIL: We are currently experiencing some unexpected problems with our service delivery.
RESPONSE: We are investigating this and expect to have this resolved promptly.
DURATION: We will provide an update on the cause and resolution once completed.
UPDATE: 16:20 BST (GMT +1) 15 Oct 2009
We were performing a routine maintenance operation to expand disk space. This normally requires no downtime, however the operation hung causing a cascading problem which required us to restart the entire service.
Because the restart was unscheduled we took great care to minimise risk. This means that restarting our entire service takes time.

Thanks for the update, I was wondering where my sites have gone.
Cheers,
Atlas
Yeah hi Atlas,
Our Sys Admin and Chief Technical Officer are all over it at the minuter. We do hope to have normal service resumed as quickly and as painlessly as possible.
Thanks
Walt

is any one experiencing problems with their sites as my one is giving out a 504 gateway time out , as of yesterday at this precise time 15.30 moonfruit experienced a service disruption which apparently was fixed meaning we site leaders could be unable to access our sites until moonfruit return on monday morning their main site is also playing up too
Yep Ditto, A bit unusual for them but I have the same problem, lets hope they fix it soon,
Gazza

Hi Joe
any idea what went wrong this time after yesterday's unexpected disruption
Hi Andrew,
I don't know yet, but will get a full report from our engineers when things are stable. Thanks for your patience.
Joe
Hi,
looks like Moonfruit is down again? I can't access any website (hosted by moonfruit, of course XD).
COMINS
Joe
you need to tell the engineers that all moonfruit sites are giving out a 504 gateway time out error
Hi Comins
there was a service disruption yesterday which was then put right but obviously some thing has gone wrong moonfruit are currently on the case
Hi Andrew,
Yes they know the problem, just getting to the cause and the solution. We'll be there soon. Thanks, joe
Thanks Joe
Joe
just came across this http://status.sitemakerlive.com/ and discovered the problems we were experiencing with our sites was all down to a DOS (denial of service)
Hi guys,
We identified the signature of the attack and put a block in place. And as you spotted on our Status site Andrew, it was a DDOS attack. The attack occurred against one particular site and a forum on one particular page. We are yet to establish why this website was targeted. Service was returning to normal by 16:12.
All sites should now be fully accessible.
Thanks for your patience while we resolved this issue as quickly as we could.

Hiya,
I am still experiencing MAJOR issures with the entire site. I keep getting a connection error on both firefox and internet explorer. It's telling me -
"Connection Interrupted
The document contains no data.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again."
If I do manage to get onto the front page or any page by repeated refreshing and manage to click 'login' the page it takes me to (if im lucky) has nowhere to put in my login details...
I'm starting to get worried as I remember reading that websites will be deleted if not logged onto for 31 days...
my website is www.dawnhollidayart.moonfruit.com
Would reall appreciate some help!
Dawn
Hi Dawn,
We are not experiencing any problems with our service at all. It's running at 100% and our error logs are clear. And judging by the fact I had to delete over 50 duplicated posts from you I would tend to think you may have a connection problem of some sort.
As far as your site is concerned I cannot find it on our system or your domain. This does not mean it has been deleted, just that the information you have provided cannot be located in our database. If you can give us your user name or contact email address then we may be able to find your account and site through that.
Thanks
Walt
Hi Walt,
Thanks so much for your reply, and sorry again about the repeated messages. I wrote .com instead of .co.uk at the end of my site sorry about that. I've managed to get on from my mum's laptop. It's very strange. On my own laptop moonfruit either loads partially for me or I get a connection error from each browser I use. The login page, if it loads for me tells me I need the latest flash to view it, but moonfruit confirms that I do have the latest java and flash. I can access the French Moonfruit though. This has been going on for over a week.
When I refresh enough on my website (www.dawnhollidayart.moonfruit.co.uk) I just get a "Page cannot be found! Please check the website address (URL) and try again." message. I've asked my friends and family to try to get onto my website but they all get the same message.
I managed to login through my mum's computer though and get onto the editor where I can view my website fully intact. It's not yet finished but I still used to be able to view it and show it to people.
I have tried a few things like clearing cache, cookies, and I flushed the DNS and checked firewalls as well. All of which have made no difference. I'm confused, if it's a problem with my server or browser or something howcome no one can view my page anymore?
I would truly appreciate and be graterful for some help, I wanted to upgrade my site for xmas but I'm not sure how if I'm unable to get this sorted :S
If you would prefer I contact you on the forum or elsewhere please let me know as I understand this is just meant for comments.

Oh wow... I feel stupid... My website address is actually www.dawnholliday.moonfruit.co.uk
It's still able to be viewed, but the problem with the site loading and not being able to log on still stands. I guess it must be something going wrong on my end. Any ideas or tips would still be much appreciated.
Thanks so much
Dawn
Hi Dawn,
Your site address is actually: dawnholliday.moonfruit.com (no .co.uk). So you should be able to login using dawnholliday.moonfruit.com/login
Ummm, Dawn, where are you trying to access your site from? As in what country? We recently had an issue in SA where a particular Telco was blocking our IP address for some reason. Websites were fully accessible and viewable from every where but a small corner of South African.
Walt
